Simon vote will go mostly to McClintock, and strengthen his campaign against Arnold.

Which is another one you can add to the list of elections that the Republicans couldn't win on their programs, so they had to cheat, as they did with the phoney impeachment, the 2000 appointment, and are now trying with this recall. Not to mention the outrageous redistricting scams in CO and TX.

The recall mechanism needs fixing, the numbers of signatures, the availability of partisan abuse, and the expense. An office-holder who was elected fairly and has not committed malfeasance shouldn't be subjected to this.

DAVIS's big crime appeared at first to be "poor personality". But the more I've seen of him my impression is of a kind of goofy endearingness, and his wife comes across with heartwrenching sincerity.

BUSTA outpolling Ahhhnuld would be a blast without saddling him with possibly built-in insolubility of the situation. At least he's willing to try. He seems overbearing and petty. When he was asked about his relationship with DAVIS he said, "It's about as good as anybody's in Sacramento."

From the LA Times poll...

"The actor won the support of 39% of likely Republican voters, 20% of independents and 7% of Democrats polled. McClintock received 21% of the Republican vote, Simon received 12% and Ueberroth 10%."

Also, Simon had only 6% total, so his dropping
out wdnt affect the numbers much.

I love the way that repuke Issa got his head handed to him. He spent two million dollars to bankroll the recall, and got pushed overboard almost as soon as it qualified for the ballot. Oh! Sweet!

17. These polls are making me dizzy

The very "first" one had Bustamante ahead by several points; and then, bingo, just a couple days ago CNN/MSNBC were siting a "Field Poll" that showed Arnold at like 23% or something and Bustamante at 18%.........so, what the hell is the truth??? Could it be that the LA Times is just canvasing the LA area??? All I know is that the Dems can take NOTHING for granted and have to pull out all stops in taking this thing on.

It was a Field Poll that had Bustamante ahead earlier. And now a L.A. Times poll confirms it. I think the other poll showing Arnold ahead was in error and counter to the actual trend.
