This Monday (25th), at a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC, DraftWesleyClark.com will be releasing the results of a national Zogby poll we commissioned to explore the potential of a Clark candidacy. And you'll be able to watch it live, on C-SPAN at 1 pm eastern. (we'll email and post results on the Web later that afternoon).
The poll employs an interesting twist to circumvent the "name recognition" question, and really get to the heart of the *full* potential of a Clark candidacy.
This is the same poll that Tim Russert referred to this morning on "Meet the Press." We can't go into details until it is formally released, but suffice to say -- it will be very, very interesting.
The poll will examine a range of questions, including: 1) Clark's ranking among Democrats -- and his potential ranking; 2) Rankings of current candidates; 3) Clark's performance against President Bush -- and his potential performance; 4) Voter commitment to specific candidates, including Clark; 5) Importance of national security experience in a candidate; and 6) The percentage of voters open to a new Democratic candidate.
Thanks much to all of you who contributed to this effort, particularly over the last few days, and made it possible for us to commission a poll from John Zogby -- one of the country's pre-eminent pollsters.
With General Clark ramping up his public appearances (check out www.DigitalClark.com to see some recent ones) and indicating that he will make a decision in the next several days, things could get very exciting, very soon. So keep pushing forward, because with your help -- we really might turn this "draft" into an actual campaign.
