Who else has finished Al Franken's "Lies"?
I thought it was awesome. He had me laughing out loud while at the same time my anger was boiling being reminded of all the crap the right has pulled over the last 10 years. I did cry through the whole chapter about the Wellstone memorial.

1. I just finished the Wellstone Memorial chapter....
Yes, very sad in an otherwise hilarious book. As many outrages as are listed in that book, that chapter made me the most upset. Unbridled hypocrisy on behalf of the republicans who screamed 'politics' at those who mourned after Paul when they themselves were the ones politicizing the death of the progressive hero. Dear god it makes me pissed to find that of all the people who criticized the memorial, almost none of them had seen it.

Otherwise, the book has just been awesome so far. Being ADD, I usually have a hard time reading more than 1 chapter of a book at a time before moving on to something else. The fact that I've gone through 200 pages of the book in 2 days is a true testament to it's readability.

2. The Wellstone chapter brought back too many memories.
It might sound silly, but that was one the hardest things for me to deal with of all the horrible things that the rightwingers have done in the last few years. I watched the whole memorial service & was very moved. Then to have the repub media take a few second clip and pretend that was the whole service was disgusting.
I love Franken's sense of humor, it's as warped & twisted as my own.

3. Not silly at all,
The bastards crossed the line with that one. If anything reserved Limbaugh a prime seat in hell, that would be it.

4. Taking my time ...
the next chapter for me is on Jerry Falwell. If he's done him like he's done the other people, it'll be a riot.

5. Nearly done
Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your perspective) we bought a ton of Anime DVDs this weekend and have been watching like O'Really watches his own image.

Of what I have read so far its been very entertaining. The main problem is that it is a humor book. While it is funny and a good way of cracking open the right it is not as in depth as I would like. Its not Franken's fault. He set out to write a saterical political book and did just that. Bravo I say. Its just we need more of this current regieme cracked open. So I guess my biggest complaint is I want more.
