Buchanan went out of his way to hijack the Indpendence party which was the sole damage Bush received from the right. He misused or didn't use their funds in his stealth campaign. His presence accidentally helped Bush in Florida. He was very mildly supportive of the voters who got defrauded because of his ludicrous presence on the ballot theire. He was mute or muted completed as his fellow Nixon era pals swept into office.

For a self described pugilist he seems to have opened his own kennel door and meekly settled for irrelevancy so long as he keeps fans and a paycheck for his contrarian views.

It looks to me as if he has been duly intimidated, tamed and even complicit with inner ruling circle. Even Nader upstaged him.
