It may be "unpatriotic" for him to do it and me to say it, but good for Aaron Brown.

2. "Unpatriotic" Or Not
I am sad to see these men and women not come home. I am sad that children will have to ask questions about where and when they lost their parents, sisters, brothers, etc. I can only hope when the bell tolls that we do remember them. Not for any politicians sake. But for their families and for them. The heartbreak must be immense. May we never lose the voice of those that can no longer speak for themselves after such a sacrifice.

3. I can't speak
for all the news programs, but Aaron Brown's and Dan Rather's have been remembering a few of the fallen every evening for months now. The tributes are silent (Brown's) or eloquently written and movingly delivered (Rather's).

I hope some small measure of comfort is delivered to the families through these national tributes to their loved ones' service and their memories. It may be moving to have a child's photo in uniform on the CBS News. Unfortunately, it is accompanied with birth and death dates.

Any mother would tell you she would prefer her son or daughter be remembered for being a good neighbor and parent, for delivering Mobile Meals, or for changing a tire for a stranger on a rainy night, or giving back $20 found on the street.
