Am I crazy or does Bush not seem worried about his reelection bid?
When I watch Bush lately, I see a man unconcerned with his diminishing chances for reelection. In fact, he seems to get more arrogant with each passing day.

Where is Bush's confidence coming from? Is he out of touch with reality or does he have confidence that Rovotron's new "product line" for September will save him?

1. I think
hes just infinately confident. Though I do definately feel concerend that they somehow know they will win, but in the end these guys are arrogant pricks. Bush has had everything taken care of for him for his entire life.

6. "Bush has had everything taken care of for him for his entire
life." That about sums it up right there. He is so arrogant and of such a dictatorial mindset that he cannot conceive of not winning another term, and that it won't be taken care of for him. Which, in fact, it probably will be.

2. Strategy
Edited on Wed Aug-27-03 08:06 AM by bryant69
They've made it clear that an aspect of their strategy for reelection is to pretend that they have no chance of losing. That all the Democratic Candidates are jokes and that we can't trust any of them to protect us from Terrorists.

10. Right! It's the strategy of Inevitability
If they can convince people that Bush*'s re-selection is "inevitable", maybe they won't notice or mind when Bush* steals the election.

4. He's doing God's work and God isn't going to let someone
else win the election. Plus he has a ton of money and I don't think the contributions from Halliburton have started to come in yet from the billions they've made off the wars. And don't forget the voting machines. Some people think that the votes have alredy been cast fro the next election.

So take you pick!

And his life is one continuous string of fuck-ups. So why should he expect this any of this to change?

7. I think he believes the Republicans finally have control of our votes
through Republican ownership of voting machine companies.

I think they all believe we're only going to have Republican Presidents from now on.

I think his handlers keep him in the dark.
They wouldn't dare let him know if the "fix" was in - the guy's a walking Freudian slip.
They just keep him happy and clueless - mustn't upset him - he'd fall apart.

8. I think he's completely unaware
The guy's obviously lost touch with reality. If you watch his recent speeches, he basically babbles and says nothing new. Seems to me like he's got ignorance/bliss syndrome. By hanging on to his "Christian" ideology and his "with us or against us" cowboy machismo attempts, I'm sure he feels the world is behind him. Clueless, I guess.

9. Bush Sr. believed the samething...
that it was not possible he would lose re-election, in his sons case it would be win an election. I read some time ago that the fix was already in place for bush in 2004 and I even thought perhaps that's why Al Gore (our real Presiedent in exile) was not running ,knowing it would only give bush the ability to brag that he beat Gore ,something he can not truthfully say now ! I would be very suspect of any bush win in 2004. I believe in reality his popularity is a myth ! However we can hand 2004 to bush by picking the wrong person to run agaist him. I will vote for any Dem ,Iam fronm the anybody but bush . However I wish Al Gore was in this race ,because I strongly believe he would have been a uniting force ,and voter turn out would be high for Dems with Gore running. Like I said ,I will vote for any Dem going up against bush !

11. He has the corporate media handling the Dem primary for him.
Why should he worry?

The corporate media doesn't listen to Gary Hart.
It doesn't listen to Rand Beers.
It doesn't listen to Joe Wilson.
It doesn't listen to Joe Conason.
It doesn't listen to Ted Rall.

Karl is the one to watch. Whistle A* knows nothing.
What I can say is the number of leaks are multiplying fast (see the last EPA-9.11 thingy) which tells me that people in the administration are trying to secure a future elsewhere. But how does karl sleep these days - this is the question.

15. My take (for what it's worth)
Is that Bush is so confident because he knows what's coming next. He just has to endure until the next big thing happens. What is that?
Could be any number of things:

Capture of Saddam
Capture of Osama
New war w/Iran/N.Korea/Baaka Valley/Syria take your pick
Discovery of WMDs
Nasty-ass smear campaign against any or all of potential Dem candidates
More campaign money than god

or, in my more paranoid moments: Electronic voting for fun and profit!

16. Bush is a classic narcissist
He has a serious problem with his own self-esteem and so protects himself from emotional injury through a number of ways:

1. - 1st amendment zones keep protestors out of his sight
2. - Staged events with only die-hard supporters in attendance
3. - Limited press conferences where he might be challenged
4. - Politically attacking those who publically disagree with him
5. - Develops an air of invincibility when he is the most threatened
6. - Retreats to his ranch
7. - Makes snide remarks to reporters who question him
8. - Demands only loyalty and yes-men/women around him
9. - Convinces himself that he is right and everyone else is an idiot
10. - Convinces himself that a supreme being placed him in the presidency

Also, Rove knows that Bush is a classic narcissist and does his damndest to protect him from the bad news. Bush wants to hear he is invincible, so that is what Rove tells him. Rove knows that a confident Bush is an effective political tool.

19. But I think he's afraid of being heckled during speeches.
I've been thinking about why he puffs up his mouth and then lets the air out to express relief at the end of some of his speeches. One was to seniors about drugs and then the latest one was to the American Legion. In both of these cases, I think he was worried about a heckler because he knew he was really working AGAINST the best interests of the people in the audience.

One of these days someone is going to risk their life and yell something out to expose the Bush lies. And Bush knows it is coming.

22. I wish it were only arrogance and ignorance

but my gut is warning of something perhaps a lot more sinister - as in they know they don't even have to worry about an election - due to all the things listed above.

A stolen election - repub's don't care, it's their guy;

A war based on lies - repub's don't care, it's their guy;

American children dying every day for oil - repubs don't care, it's their guy;

Stolen and raped Treasury and Social Security - repubs don't care, it's their guy;

Black box voting - repubs don't care, it's their team.

NOTHING apparently matters to these people - all * has to do is say he's a Christian - and boom. I despise the stupidity and blindness of this group - but their stupidity is not going to save them or any of us - because when it blows up - its going to take all of us - Repubs and Dems and Independents and Libertarians alike - we're all going to go down - and their stupidity and blindness won't be an excuse - they have access to the same information as the rest of us - they don't care - complete and total apathy - disgusting.

I look for them to fuck up with North Korea - start there and go into Iran and Syria - world wide war - with one disaster after another on American soil - computer viruses, blackouts, biological warfare, you name it - I think they've got it all prepared and ready to go. If people cannot see that the masks are off and they are following through with their plans at an alarming pace - it is really beyond me. The way I feel today - let the whole damn world blow up - we deserve it for our weakness, laziness and stupidity beyond realms. Its time to scrap the whole mess and start all over - hopefully on a planet with more intelligent life forms the next time.
