The Flat Earth Society...
Nowadays known as the Republican Party...most especially the supply-siders within the Party. Just as passionately as the "flat-earthers" never believed the Earth to be round, the supply-siders believe in "trickle-down" economics. They passionately believe that taxcuts for the top is the solution to all our economic problems. Just give it time.

Furthermore, they believe that huge, monstrous deficits don't really matter either. They rationalize that they are only 3 or 4% of the GNP - as if the total GNP has anything in the world to do with deficits. The GNP does not belong to the government and the people that create the GNP are not willing to give it to the government. So it is irrelevant.

Deficits are relevant to the amount we spend as a society as opposed to the amount of taxes we are willing to pay. At this time, we are not willing to pay enough taxes to keep up with our appetite for spending. It is not that we spend huge amounts on social programs. (We pay for the Social Security and Medicare but they even steal that) We can't even get a national healthcare program for our citizens when much less wealthy nations do provide those benefits to their citizens. We do have a socialist type of government but it is socialism for the wealthy and the corporations - a stark differnce to other "socialist" nations.

1. Ooooo! I like it the comparison!
E-mail the Dem campains and tell them about this comparison.

It would be so sweet to see one of our candidates compare the modern GOP to the flat earth society. Everyone thinks the FES are Wackos, and the comparison can be made very convincingly.

I like it.

2. Republicans cannot even agree
on their city of origin. It goes downhill from there.
