State of Oklahoma vs. corporate scumbags
Edited on Wed Aug-27-03 03:52 PM by RummyTheDummy
Edmondson is a democrat who seems to be willing to do something that our crooked president won't do -- holding these corporate pigs accountable.
Instead of praising them for screwing their stockholders, he's trying to hold them accountable. What a novel concept. Apologies if this is a dupe.

Attorney General Drew Edmondson filed criminal charges today against WorldCom Inc., a huge telecommunications company, and six former employees.
In the charges filed in Oklahoma County District Court, Edmondson accused the company and employees falsifying information in its stocks and bonds.

" We allege the company and these six employees executed a scheme to artificially inflate t he value of WorldCom stock and bonds by intentionally falsifying information filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, " Edmondson said. " Securities analysts and the investing public, including the state of Oklahoma, rely on this information when making investment decisions. "

6. There are plenty of OK sites to get more:
www.kotv.com
www.kjrh.com
www.ktul.com
the Tulsa paper www.tulsaworld.com probably has headlines but those
bastards make you pay to see anything but the front page and the classified ads.

3. Drew is actually one of the few decent politicians here in Oklahoma.
I've been friends with his family for 30 years. I called him and suggested going after Ken Lay - but it's problematic since Enron didn't have offices here like Worldcom did (does.)

8. I have a feeling these folks don't know what they're in for.
Drew comes off as the country lawyer type but he is an absolute bear when he gets behind a cause. I remember him going on live tv-radio Sept. 11th threating to prosecute any price gouging service stations. Within two hours prices were back to normal. Next to our governor, he's my favorite Okie pol out there.

9. A note of interest...
this is being covered on my CTV Newsnet, the Canadian equivalent of CNN Headline News, and they are making a point of how the feds have done nothing on this issue.
