Would George W Bush make a good "person of the year" for TIME this year?
Edited on Wed Sep-29-04 02:01 AM by clonebot
Of course this is in no way meant to be a complement - He'd be on the cover for the same reasons as cruel despots like stalin and hitler were. But face it, has there been any one else world wide that has made more of a mark this year? And by "mark" i mean pissing everyone off ;) Another possible alternative is to have the whitehouse inner circle as "people of the year" or something like that.. since george already was on the cover after his "victory" in 2000.

Any thoughts on the subject?

on edit: Does anyone feel that if the democrats pull off an amazing victory in november that maybe the DNC or kerry himself deserves a similiar nod - because only last year did bush seem "unbeatable" and its a real come from behind sort of situation.

If this election ends up having the highest turnout of young voters in years then that could also be a possible people of the year "the young voters" or something of the sort, etc.

3. The most significant person in world events this year is Bill O'Reilly.
If you don't believe me, ask him.

4. Douchebag of the Year works for me.
Too bad the cover of TIME is that shiny paper that doesn't work very well in cat litter boxes or the bottoms of bird cages.

6. Hitler was named Person of the Year by Time
Bush has joined a small, but select group of idiots that have won that honor.

7. Unfortunately the context in which bush got it in 2000 wasn't the same
it was more of like a "good 'ol boy" going from texas to the big city in washington sort of thing. because back then people still had the zany idea that the bushes were ACTUALLY FROM TEXAS!!

9. If people come out of the voting booth and say F 9-11 helped them
decide to vote for Kerry, and Kerry wins - Oooh, I'm drooling at the thought. MM on the cover as Man of the Year. hahahahaha.

Dear God. All I want this year is for Kerry to win and MM to be the Time Magazine Person of the Year. That's all. Thank you. Me. :)

10. I don't think Bush has done anything to deserve it
And, I know what you mean. I realize that its not always an honor.

But, bad or good, I really don't know if Bush has done anything so exceptional that he deserves that noteriety.

However, I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who should get it over Bush.

If Kerry beats Bush, then he really does deserve to be Person of the Year.
