Hillary Clinton to meet with advisters about '04 run
Headline on Drudge

There is said to be some fire to the smoke this Labor Day weekend over a report that Hillary Clinton has set a date to discuss a run for the presidency... Hillary and her advisers, including her husband the ex-president, her money-men and pollsters, will meet shortly after Labor Day -- September 6,- to discuss whether or not she should go for it!

After awhile we can start to look like California. Let everyone throw their hat into the ring. I'm serious....it would certainly get alot of dialog going and lots of ability to attack the Chimp and BFEE!

Let 'em all come in..................WHOOPIE! :eyes:

I don't care about Reeves politics. WRT to this story, what I do care about is that this story has been repeated scores of times, and every time it's a lie.

But this time it's true.

Yeah, right.

There is not ONE FACT to support the idea that Hillary is going to run for President in 2004.

And yest, you believe it. It's nothing but rumor-mongering, which is something Reeves has been known to engage in

of this way and that.....not Tweety for sure......but he lists.

Maybe he needed to "pump" his readership..third wife and such....but I still give him a teeny credibility......I think Hillary doesn't know for sure. The "whore press" pushed her to run as Senator from NY......she won.....hey..she's an opportunist.....and I don't take away from her for trying to seize the "brass ring" of the Presidency.

I think she's thinking about it......with pressure from Bill.......whose sick of them trashing his record as Prsident.

I say .......as I said...bring 'em all on! ALL OUR DEMS..........PRESSURE THE REPUGS......with BIG GUNS..

As a political observer - he's very well-respected. I have three of his books on campaigns on my book shelf. He is no nutwing.

The new news from MSNBC's Craig Crawfor makes me think this is serious. Things have changed dramatically since she said she wouldn't run.

13. I think the timing is better and better everyday
It's looking more and more like '92. Bush is looking more vulnerable each week. And a little-known governor has all the momentum.

It was entirely possible that if Cuomo had declared in '92, he may have created a tsunami and knocked every other contender out. He didn't, Clinton won, and Cuomo never got another chance.

I still think Hillary wants to run. I'm sorry, but every politician wants to be president. And every politician denies it. So, all her statements mean little to me.

She may think that Dean has created this energy for the Democrats and she can jump in with her name and ability to raise dollars and grab it from him. Like the man said, it's very similar to what RFK did to McCarthy in '68.

In other words, Dean could be the fluffer of the 2004 race to the White House.

19. not true
two points to consider.

She won't risk running if Bush is thought to have it locked up. She kills credibility to New Yawkers and gets voted out of the Senate. And her political career is over.

If Bush is beatable, then you HAVE to figure on eight years of president Dem which puts her next chance WAY down the road (age 65) and I don't think her political career will allow her to wait that long.

Its now or after Bush finishes his 2nd term or never.

10. Hillary voted for the war and is one person who can inspire the Reichwing
to show up in force for Bush in 2004.

If she breaks her promise to the people of New York about serving her full term, she will be branded a promise-breaker and risk losing her senate seat in 2006.

I think that Hillary sees that Dean has a great chance to win the nomination and the Presidency, which would upset her plans for a 2008 run.

26. Couldn't Agree More
Hillary's only chance is to present herself as the Clinton who doesn't lie. She promised repeatedly that she wouldn't do this, and she's toast if she jumps in now. I'm sure she was operating on the assumption that she could run in 2008, and now may regret that since it's feasible that Bush is going to lose next year. Still, I think it would be a terrible move for her politically.

15. If true I'm staying with Dean
Hillary pledged not to run this year to the people of NY in 2002--okay, but she kept saying that she would maintain that pledge when Bush was at 70% and seemed unbeatable (though really he always has been beatable with the right candidate). Now that his poll numbers are declining she might get in the race? I'd rather back a candidate who had the guts to get into this when he "seemed" so popular with the country.

But I doubt she actually will run.

Nobody thought Arnold would run either. Politics is a crazy business. It's certainly a gamble for her, but it might be her only shot. Would Hillary risk getting locked out of the nomination till 2012 when she would be 65 years old?

Bill Clinton broke a promise not to run for president too. Wellstone broke a promise not to run for senator. It's politics.

letter for this last week. Hillary said in the letter:

"I'm writing you on behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC)."

She's been busy with this Dem party project, her senatorial duties, and her book . Hillary is learning day by day in the senate. She listens and she is aware this is not yet her time.

To end all of the "2008" murmurings, Hillary stated in an interview that she hoped the winning Dem in 2004 would be a two termer. Since she said she would serve out her term as NY senator,it's plain she'll not run until 2012.

40. I disagree with the premise
...that Clinton would only mobilize the GOP element. I believe her "reluctant" run would energize the left as well, as the predictable bashing (and misogyny) from the right began.

History shows that where there's a fight on, voters come out across the board. We know there's more of "us" out there (especially with strong opinions on the elements that would compose this "fight"), so she'd win.

IF she goes in swingin'.

62. The pundits were going on for months about Hillary in 2008 which
could undercut any Dem running in 2004. In an interview earlier this summer, Hillary stated that (1) she was not running in 2004 (2) she wanted Bush out of the White House in 2004 (3)she hoped any Democrat that replaced Bush would serve two terms.

Since then I haven't noticed Begala on "Crossfire" mentioning Hillary in 2008. He was the main offender.

The interview in which she made the two termer statement was either on the Larry King or Charlie Rose show. She was a guest on both shows during her book tour.

Too risky. She's a woman, she's controversial, R's despise her and the campaign would be filthy dirty on their part. because that would be suicide for us Dems. I like Hillary, but the hate is too strong out there right now. I don't want to watch that bloodbath.

We need to break it to the pugs gently that they are not the Droids we are looking for, not with a thorny club. The most righteous ending for this story would be for Gore to get the nom, and then name Hillary vp. But that's in 2012. And in a novel. A Sci Fi Novel.

Maybe in a few years the American Public will accept a female president--and that's not even taking into account the whole Clinton history. Hillary should wait until every controlling testosterone addled John Bircher fascist in my Dad's generation is dead. Those evil old farts will never let her happen. They didn't want Wellstone to happen either. And I wouldn't wish that sort of thing on Hillary.

These sons o bitches can't live forever, even with artificial hearts. If she waits until twelve, she could win.

I think she has to wait-- and become sentate MAJORITY leader. 2012 is the one to hope for, if she still wants to.

I see her as being one of the greatest senators ever.

Hilary thoughts--

(Acknowledging a crush on her)

If anyone ever calls Bill Clinton a dumbass, remind them that he graduated sixth in his law class at Yale. After the "Yeah, but--", say "Do you know who graduated first?"

Hilary has already proven to be one of the most efficient freshman senators _ever_ . And even if you don't agree with her on everything (the war, etc), one is hard-pressed not to see her as an incredibly positive example for women in America.

I often refer to "Hilary Clinton Syndrome". "Hilary Clinton Syndrome" is the abject fear a man may have when he knows that a woman is smarter than he is..

A few reasons why I won't vote for Hillary:

1. She voted for the war, right after she spoke agaisnt it. Flip-flopping is too soft a term to describe that.

2. She's an opportunist, as seen in her switching states to be elected to the Senate more easily, and in her overdose of populism. Sorry, but I won't vote for someone who changes her opinions according to what the polls say.

3. She, Daschle, and Gephardt are the main proponents of the Repub-lite strategy - don't criticize Bush, wait for a better time, don't do anything, nod for the sake of bipartianship.

4. She's term limited - she was president from 1992 to 2000 ;) (OTOH, so is Barbara Bush who was president from 1988 to 1992 and is now president again).

So please, Hill, do us all a favor and don't run - it'll be nice if you don't run for reelection either in 2006, but let's start with keeping your spineless self out of the Democratic primary.

And while you are being preoccupied with Hillary, guess what is going on around you.

Too busy with Hillary? Good!
