I am doing a project for school that has to show Local, State, and National governments at work. How did Schwarzenegger respond to it? I know that Bush responded by trying to amend the constitution and what not. thank you

Newsom decided to allow same sex marriages because it's basically a local decision. Many marriages took place and it was glorious. The Gropinator said it was unlawful under state rules and opposed the local marriages. We'll see what the courts decide.

3. Arnie didn't have the power to nullify the marriages |
|
It depends on the courts. Arnie made a political statement and he was against gay/lesbian rights.

The court decided that. California has a law voted in a few years ago that states marriage is between a man and a woman only. Newsome's argument was that that law is unconstitutional. The court decided the marriages void because California law was the law of the land, so to speak.
