Just got this e-mail from a Canadian I met last weekend.
Hi Dean,

Yeah it's me again, Sid.

Ya got that right !!! Bye George Bush, let's save the state of this world if it's not already too late. Problem is, he 'll probably win. Even here there is fallout with that outcome. An informal newspaper poll was taken across Canada and Bush got 19% of the vote, making him a very unpopular figure.

I just finished reading a good book called "Bushwacked", by Molly Irvins and Lou Dubose about the past and present Bush administration. Whew !!! I didn't realize things were going that badly. There's lot's of sarcasm but there is too much truth to the story with real peoples' lives involved and affected by his governance. On the last page she suggests that the Dow Jones Average should be changed to the Doug Jones Average. "Doug Jones, Average American Report, how's he doing? How's it going for 'ol Doug"? She goes on :- "So we went out and talked to 'ol Doug. He's in big trouble. So are you. So are we all. Time to raise hell". Pretty cool !!!

It's an interesting revelation for me. She calls the election process "legalized bribery" and one quote from of all people, Mussolini and his description of fascism which he describes as corporatism, the merger of state and corporate power. A very good description of the process today !!!

Good luck,

Sid

2. It's Alberta.
It's almost like Texas, but colder.

They're rednecks there too. My in-laws included.

Last year when we were up for reprehensor's parents' 50th wedding anniversary, one of his aunts heard about us talking about all the work I'd been doing with Howard Dean.

Her exact words, no kidding: "I like Bush better than Chretien. At least he's got a backbone." :wtf:

reprehensor had never liked Chretien before, but then the old guy stood up to Bush and r. developed new affection for him. Especially the decriminalizing pot part.

Another note: The only pro-life billboard I've ever seen so far was in southern Alberta, between Lethbridge and Taber.

3. Alberta
Actually Alberta still votes for Kerry by a sizable margin.

4. Interesting! Thanks for the insight.
Looks like interest is highest there. And that goes along with what I've seen.

Our friends there in Calgary enjoy hearing us talk about what's going on politically down here, and really engage us about it. I also attended an STC conference in Calgary last October and gave out lots of Dean paraphernalia to Americans AND Canadians.

So it's those pesky Manitobans and Sasquatch-awaners we have to worry about, eh?
