5. My boss is a Republican (not a hard-right wingnut, though)

and I'm ALWAYS getting calls from DeLay's office saying the same thing (and we're in OHIO). The first time it happened it threw me for a loop, I thought my boss actually knew DeLay and his ilk. He was disgusted when I told him, though, saying that DeLay just wanted his palms greased with a hefty monetary gift, and he shouldn't be doing that. I told them not to bother us anymore with that bullshit, but we still get calls once in awhile!

For a variety of reasons, DeLay richly deserves to be the subject of all sorts of ethics investigations. Maybe one of you could put the story out a bit. It might pressure him and educate the public.

6. Suggestion for anyone getting a similiar call

Go along with it and get something in writing from them. Should it be illegal, you have to have something in writing to prove it. Just a telephone call from a telemarketer means nothing.

14. My brother got a call from his office

Right before the 2002 midterm elections. He told the person "There is no way in hell I'd ever give money to you," and then he hung up. Gotta love him! He's an Independent, but he runs a small business and knows how the Rethugs really treat the average Joe and how terrible their policies are for the small businessman.

12. I've gotten several of these

At work. My secretary was impressed until I told her it was a Republican fund rainsing scam. If you have a DUNS number or any kind of identifier that you are in business, you'll get a call.

I finally told them that I resented their misrepresenting the nature of their call, that Tom DeLay was a fascist pig, and my number should go on their "do not call" list. Haven't heard back for a whle.
