These two articles from todays Orlando Sentinel pretty much sum up what is happening in Florida schools. More demands have been placed on underpaid, overworked teachers because of Fcat requirements, etc. Teachers are pulling what little cash that they earn out of their own pockets to help alleviate the supply shortage in their classrooms.
Minimal raises or no raises at all are expected for the teachers of Florida. Principals are cutting back on everyting including after school tutoring, guidance counselors, etc.
AND FCAT... Read the NAACP piece and realize that because your school isn't termed an "A" school, your school will recieve far less money than schools with that grade. 120 mill to be exact.
Just read both articles starting with the "Cut to the Bone" piece and you'll see how fuc@ed up things are in good old Florida.
