BBC NEWS: Alastair Campbell to resign
Alastair Campbell is to resign as the government's director of communications and strategy.

Mr Campbell's decision was announced by Downing Street shortly after 1430 BST on Friday.

He said: "It has been an enormous privilege to work so closely in opposition and in government for someone I believe history will judge as a great transforming prime minister."

Mr Campbell said his family had paid a price for his role and said his partner, Fiona Millar, would be leaving No 10 at the same time "in a few weeks".

3. Cambell made an ass of him self when the BBC accused him of
"Sexing Up" the Iraqi dossier. Now that the BBC is being proven right, he has to go.

2. I suppose this is supposed to be "good news,"
but I, for one, am not happy when the lower level people take the fall when people at the highest level engineered the whole thing.

But, hey, let's see Condi resign, AND Powell, AND Tenet AND Chao(my special favorite who destroys labor as she mouths labor platitudes)...one at a time, separated by a week would be OK.

4. Alastair Campbell
Is the Karl Rove of Blair's government as I understand it. Blair TOP advisor. I think this is just the beginning. The other parties are starting to smell blood and Labour is going to start thinking about survival. I doubt Blair survives through September politically.

6. one down, many to go
next nominations for the chop are the assholes that have successfully evaded being drawn into the Dr Kelly saga:
1) Lord Levy - Tony Blair's so-called Middle East envoy who's on record as being paid undefinable 'consultancy fees' by Australian Michael Lowy - the shopping mall stooge who took out a long term lease at ground zero just before 9/11 and planned to build his us empire around the WTC
2) Jack Straw, foreign secretary, whose pristine, unblemished career has steadily remained untarnished. A master of high-level fingerpointing and agenda distraction
3) Lord George Robertson, NATO sec gen and adept architect of clinton/gore security coverups re princess di fiasco
4) Carole Caplin - Cherie Booth's 'lifestyle guru' and female equivalent of alistair campbell
