Poll question: "If my 1st choice doesn't win the nomination, I'll..."
I'm a little troubled with some DUers, so I'd like to try to improve my outlook. So, if your first choice candidate doesn't win the Democratic nomination for president, what will you do?

1. what about me I am too young
For me thats a tough one. I will be supporting the democratic candiate but it will chances are be very different than how I have supported Kucinich, you see my support for him comes from my heart.

6. yup but
the question is if your candiate is to back up what would you do? my question is if Kucinich backs out who do I support. While I see the reason to support Dean if you were an opponent of the war and all, you see what has me for Kucinich to begin with is the fact that me and Kucinich are economic liberals and we know well Dean isnt and well thats fine. I think economic populism is a great thing, that said if its Lieberman or Dean I choose Dean by far.

2. I voted I'd work my tail off
but that might change if the nominee is Lieberman. In that case I'll still vote Democratic but I can't promise I'd work my tail off.

7. this the DEMOCRATIC underground isn't it?
You would think "Work My Tail Off for the Democrat to Beat Bush!" would be the only choice.

I could see if we had a moderate repub in the White House who wasn't doing too bad. But * will go down as THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES and our future depends on him being ousted.

8. What if Lieberman is the nominee?
He is more Republican than Democrat. Why vote for Lieberman when he stands 180-degrees apart from the mainstream of Democratic voters?

11. He isn't
He's a regular member of the Democratic wing of the Republicratic party. His voting is pretty much in line with the rest of his wing; he differs only in the fact that he doesn't criticize the members of the other wing of the party.

12. Amen!
It should be:

Anyone but Bush and/or Lieberman

If Lieberman gets the nomination I'll be in a dilly of a pickle.

13. Yes, even Lieberman
Even though he is my dead-last choice among the candidates.

Even though there is no daylight between him and Bush on Iraq and other military issues.

Even though he's way too friendly with big business and corporate fat cats.

But while I'm holding my nose and voting for him, I'll be thinking about how his stands are SO much better than Chimpy's on:

-- abortion
-- civil rights
-- the environment
-- health care

Yeah, I'd vote for him, because anyone not a member of the BFEE would be an improvement.

15. I dunno about your priorities...
...but separation of church and state if very important for me. I might tolerate borderline fundies like Kerry "I support separation of church and state but still voted to condemn Newdow vs. Congress" and Kucinich, but I won't tolerate Lieberman "Atheists have no morals." Even if he were a saint on every other issue, which he isn't (supports the fascist act and the war(s)).

10. Depends on who wins
If Kucinich wins, I'll vote Dem. If Moseley-Braun or Kerry wins, I'll probably vote Dem. If anyone else wins, I'll definitely vote third party.

16. 3rd party, most likely
Edited on Sat Aug-30-03 12:09 AM by Ein
I am extremely disenfranchised. I saw the party I am a part of demonized by several legs of the Democratic party for the election the republicans stole in 2k, and I don't think a centrist is going to help move this party to the left. Carter and Clinton told me that. I will back Kucinich, Sharpton, and Mosley-Braun, beyond that....

Flame me with the obvious (what I've seen many times before, you won't be telling me anything new).

Ein: Disenfranchised with the major parties, and the electoral system as a whole.

18. Yeah, I am troubled too especially
after seeing that other poll where 10 people that are members here would vote for that moron madmad who is squatting in the Whitehouse rather than to vote for Hillary Clinton. :grr:  I wonder why someone who would actually vote for that ignorant SOB knowing what they know now is even here.

vote democratic, shouldn't have the right to whine about another four years of this crap. And by the looks of it, that looks like about a third of DU.

20. work my tail off unless I am totally disgruntled by the process.
And by who wins the nomination. As of now I would say that I support any viable Dem candidate, but if I suspect any foul play in the primaries with voting irregularities my full support will not be there.

21. It depends upon who wins the nomination
If Lieberman wins, I go third party though not necessarily Green.

If Edwards, Kerry, or Gephardt win, I am officially undecided.

Anybody else and I work my tail off.
