What will it take for Bush to be impeached?
I am apalled at what this administration has gotten away with...from
the Patriot Act, Clean Air, Iraq....etc.

What will it take? Clinton got harrassed and the government stagnated while the GOP ran a witch hunt over a blow job.
This bastard * goes on month long vacations while our boys are dying overseas, he is fundraising instead of working, and he is giving away tax money to the rich so they can start more companies overseas...and yet there isn't enough outrage...

He lied in his state of the union...
He lied about getting us into this horrible war..
He has appointed criminals to administration positions
Wanna talk about conflict of interest...this administraton has rewarded Halliburton with more than a BILLION dollars already..

What will it take?

1. Starship Enterprise does slingshot around the sun...
...goes back in time and takes over the media. Kirk and Spock open the sealed Presidental records. Clinton is elevated to a God.

I can dream, can't I? :-)

4. It would be more funny if it weren't TRUE!
It would take something science fiction/fantasy to get a impeachment bill out of this house.
They could catch George stabbing Laura Bush, live on national television, and the Replutocans in congress would say she 'deserved it' and 'had it coming'.
If the Late J.C. himself appeared before the House of Reps in all his glory, with angels singing dirges and said "This man George Bush is a affront to My Father and must be removed from office", they would say he meant some other George Bush.

2. Same question I keep asking myself.
Obviously it will take an act of divine providence.

Speaking of God, read what he has to say about the wicked men of violence in Psalm 10. Read it in several versions is they are available. Makes you want to ask God what is taking him so long to fulfill this scripture.

and Dems have spines of jelly.......the chimp could pump a dozen rounds into a random target with an AK-47 in the middle of the SOTU...and the press would applaud his marksmanship.

He'll never be impeached - and he knows it. That smirk he wears on his puss screams "I'm one arrogant SOB and I can get away with anything."

8. Although I agree that his actions
qualify as impeachable offenses, I think a better use of our attention, time and money would be to see that a Democrat (ABB) gets in office in 2004.

However, if Bush wins (steals) the next election, then full steam ahead with a push for impeachment.

9. Bush couldn't get impeached by molesting a four year old boy
Edited on Sat Aug-30-03 08:50 AM by Walt Starr
live on national television.

There is no crime this man cannot commit.

We're in a dictatorship now. When you have the top executive of Diebold openly admitting he is committed to handing the electoral votes of Ohio to Bush, the fix is solidly in and there is no going back.

America is dead. It died on December 12, 2000.

42. No, Walt, I think that would do it.
Because if Junior molested a 4 year old boy on live television, the CHINO's would brand him as a "sodomite" and demand his removal from office the next day. A 4 year old girl, on the other hand, would probably be dismissed with "she was asking for it".

But leaving the kids out of it, I'd be willing to bet that if the Shrub got a blow job from a male intern, the flames from the reactionary CHINO faction would be enough to get rid of him. A homosexual pResident would be more than their fragile minds could handle.

Now the question is, is there a gay guy out there who would be willing to go that far in service to his country?

10. When the financial and corporate elite get tired of it..
..and enough of the wealthy feel their own wealth and status is endangered. Then, miraculously, their lackeys in the corporate media will turn against Bush/Cheney and company and things will snowball faster than an avalanche down the Matterhorn.

Not happening yet. But Blair is in trouble.

Schneider on CNN yesterday (almost never watch that but caught it for a few seconds yesterday) was comparing Blair's lack of credibility with... you guessed it.. Bill Clinton! The obvious parallel to Bush's credibility escaped this brilliant political 'pundit.'

When the likes of Schneider and Friedman turn on Bush and company instead of going for Bill Clinton's zipper, it will be the beginning of the end.

It's up to those who hold the levers of wealth and power to decide to avert catastrophe - that is, the possible destruction of the entire political/economic system and corrupt apparatus that supports them. When that happens, Bush and Cheney will fall so fast it will take our breath away.

Since January 20, 2001 we have been living in Bizarro World where the truth is the lie and the lie is the truth.

In Bizarro World, one can be impeached for sex, yet lying about taking our country to war is thought of as a virtue.

In Bizarro World, the guy who gets the most votes loses.

These are some strange times, indeed.

24. Impeachment is not a criminal process...
it is a purely political process, and has always been that.

The few impeachments we've seen, except for the occasional Federal judge, weren't driven by the "crimes" but by politics.

There has to be a sense that the the President has no right to be in office. That's what happened with Clinton, Nixon, and A. Johnson. Their political opponents smelled blood and felt it was a good time to evict the occupant. Don't think for a minute that anyone felt Watergate was such a big deal any more than Whitewater was. They saw Nixon as weak and ready to take the fall. Whitewater was payback for that.

There has to be a general disgust in the population that they can capitalize on, and there's no critical mass for that now.

There also have to be majorities in Congress to get the impeachment bill passed.

The bill is sitting in the bottom drawers of many Democratic congresscritters just waiting for the right time, which may never come. Meanwhile, the best we can do for now is work to get the bum thrown out next year.

Or figure out how to get a serious Democratic majority in the House real soon.

" Don't think for a minute that anyone felt Watergate was such a big deal any more than Whitewater was. "
If so, it's because they didn't know what they had right away. Watergate was a horrible series of crimes committed by an administration that the people thought they could trust. Whitewater was a nothing pushed by people who refused to trust the President, no matter what.

48. It will NOT happen
The people who support him blindly are in control.. THEIR jobs are on the line . He and his fundraising juggernaut are what THEY need to retain THEIR positions.. They will not bite hthe hand that feeds them..

The Clinton impeachment was a "perfect storm" and hopefully will never happen again.. As bad as Bush is, impeachment is NOT the answer.. Investigation would be nice, but it's not gonna happen.. Waxman and the others can rail about it as much as they want, but without the media "driving the bus" it's not happening.. Watergate would have never been investigated without the constant pressure from the press.. We have a puppydog press now, and they are not (capable) willing to go for it..

It's unlikely to happen..:(

Public humiliation in the press is what Bush needs..Impeachment is not necessary..

58. I take that as a rhetorical question
I want to resist answering, but since there are people convinced that it CAN (not you) or WILL happen, it is time for some anti-delusional therapy.

It just isn't going to happen, for some of the following reasons:

I caught hell (well, I welcomed it) by saying not even the SOTU lies would create a stir. They did not, I am vindicated, and of course, my critics have not given up their delusions.

The WH, both houses of Congress, the Supreme Court, the news networks, the majority of statehouses, and too many newspapers are in Republican hands.

Bush could shit on the flag at the WTC site and he would be applauded as a hero on the evening news. Consider how well-received his Third World jaunt on an aircraft carrier was fawned over by Paula Zahn and the like.

As long as fear is the prevailing ethos in governing the nation and driving the content of the news, we're fucked.

Meanwhile, 41%, a substantial minority of people, fear there will be a terrorist attack on US soil any day now...

There will be no impeachment, Hillary will not run, and Wesley Clark is not our savior.

60. For one thing, a second term
Other things aside, I don't think there is enough time. If, on the slim chance he is re-elected, then impeachment is a serious option that should be pursued.

But for now, the easiest thing to do is vote him out.

64. What it takes
It's gonna take not letting him off the hook for anything he
does. Everything must be explained. No trust me deals for
thye puking liar. Starting with unsealing the presidential
papers. Number one on the agenda. Energy meeting, keep the
heat on. Oh, and how about finding the antrax terrorist???
Postal employees died. Where's the investigation?

We all know how they try to change the subject. Don't let
them.

66. A Democratic Congress!!
Either that, or enough Republicans in the House with the guts enough to stand up to Tom "Cockroach" DeLay, tell him to go to hell where he came from, and vote to impeach the BCF (via discharge petition); 18 Republican senators with the guts enough to say no to Bobblehead Ricky Santorum; and help from God!!! :)
