"Nobody spends more time on his knees than George W. Bush."
Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 07:57 AM by Q
Do you want a Faith-based or Reality-based Government?

- At first they were secretive about it. But now the Bushies actually brag about prayer meetings in 'our' White House and how Bush's* policy decisions are based on faith and not reality.

- I believe we're witnessing firsthand why the Founders erected a 'wall of separation between church and state'.

- New Documentary being released by the 'Religious' Right:

George W. Bush - Faith in the White House

"Nobody spends more time on his knees than George W. Bush."

See how the power of faith can change a life, build a family and shape the destiny of a nation... Not since the days of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln has a president put so much stock in his Christian faith and prayer life for making decisions and leading the United States in its hour of crisis. According to BBC correspondent Justin Webb: "Nobody spends more time on his knees than George W. Bush. The Bush administration hums to the sound of prayer. Prayer meetings take place day and night. It's not uncommon to see White House functionaries hurrying down corridors carrying Bibles." - http://www.bushfaith.com/homepage.asp?gtse=goog>kw=faith%20in%20the%20white%20house

- Congress wouldn't consider Bush's* desire to directly fund the church...so he used an executive order to bypass the people's representatives:

Executive Order
Establishment of White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives

By the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, and in order to help the Federal Government coordinate a national effort to expand opportunities for faith-based and other community organizations and to strengthen their capacity to better meet social needs in America's communities, it is hereby ordered as follows: - http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/01/20010129-2.html

1. "Nobody spends more time on his knees than George W. Bush."
Except the twins.

:spank:

Seriously though, I think the "reality-based" approach is a fantastic answer to all of the "faith-based" stuff going around.

4. Bush* receives messages from God...
...and rules...er...governs this nation with his 'gut'. There have been several articles discussing this issue...but they're not considering the fact that someone who listens to voices in his head just may get a 'message' to drop he Big One on the 'evil ones' in the name of God.

- Here's the reality. I don't mind a leader that believes in God or uses the value system of the ten commandments to guide his OWN life. But it's outright CRAZY and dangerous when this same 'leader' is guided by his 'visions' instead of reality-based facts.

5. The 'destiny of a nation'...
"See how the power of faith can change a life, build a family and shape the destiny of a nation..."

- George's 'faith' shaping the destiny of a nation? What about democracy? What about representative government?

- The religious right is treating Bush* like a prophet or a King. In a Democracy...it's not one man's job to shape the destiny of a nation.

8. This isn't a joke...our country's policy decisions are based on 'faith'...
...and (RWing Ideology) and not facts/reality.

- George* still has a few more months in office. He's more convinced he will 'win' than in 2000 when his brother was working in the shadows to change the numbers in his favor. He will not go quietly into that good night...thinking he's on a mission from God.

Fundamentalism should be classified as a type of insanity, especially when used to make decisions of state.

11. And this is why George* appears so 'confident' and 'decisive'...
...he hears a voice telling him he's right and that's the end of it. No one can tell him he's wrong...not even his most 'trusted' advisors.

- Is this the 'divine right of kings'? A dictator's delusional madness?

16. Most people who hear voices telling them to kill in God's name
get locked up for their own and the publics safety. But if a president claims to hear voices, people seem amazingly willing to believe he has a direct line to Gawd, rather than that is a dangerous maniac.

10. Fresh Air yesterday -
They had a couple of fundy-rwers talking about this. One said people have walked into the Oval Office and thought Bush wasn't there "only to realize he was on his knees - praying!" How do they know he wasn't picking up a pretzel he dropped at least one of those times?

12. Well...they certainly won't find him reading or studying...
- It's clear that Bush* is using religion to win votes. It's also obvious that he feels that no one can blame him for his dangerous decisions because he's being guided by a divine light.

20. Whose 'divine light' guides him?
"Man cannot march into war and assume God will be at his side", said
the Pope. Go into Iraq and you go without God he said.

Cardinal Pio Laghi the Pope's envoy to President Bush said that a
pre-emptive strike on Iraq is immoral unless backed by the United
Nations. "It's illegal, it's unjust", he said. However, Bush told the
Pope's envoy that the leader of the world's Catholics is wrong.

President George Bush's own Methodist church has launched a scathing attack on his preparations for war against Iraq, saying they are 'without any justification according to the teachings of Christ'.

Statement of United Church of Christ leaders opposing U.S. war against Iraq

With heavy hearts we hear once again the drumbeat of war against Iraq. As United Church of Christ leaders committed to GodÕs reign of justice and peace in the world and to the just conduct of our nation, we firmly oppose this advance to war.

The case for a preemptive attack on Iraq has not been made. While IraqÕs weapons potential is uncertain, the death that would be inflicted on all sides in a war is certain. Striking against Iraq now will not serve to prevent terrorism or defend our nationÕs interests. We fear that war would only provoke greater regional instability and lead to the mass destruction it is intended to prevent.

13. Yup. It's not a "lie" - it's "belief."
How many times has Smirky McGodbomber replied that he's "confident" and "firmly believes" he does the "right" things in the face of clear evidence that this cowardly Regime has done nothing but lie, cheat, and steal?

The people who blindly follow on this path to fascist predation and ruin are people incapable of distinguishing between reality and faith-based mythology. "Neurotics build castles in the sky; psychotics go live in them."
