While folks say we Democratic Party members face an uphill challenge to capture a majority in the Senate, I think we can get to 50/50;
After we trade two - Ill has Obama replacing GOPer Fitzgerald, and Zell is replaced in Georgia by GOPer Johnny Isakson winning over U.S. Rep. Denise Majette, we find:
In S.D., Dem Sen. Tom Daschle leads over Thune, albeit a narror lead
In Florida the Dem seat has non-charismatic but nice Castor - very slightly -leads? over charismatic but not nice GOPer Mel Martinez.
In Louisiana the Dem seat is ok if GOPer David Vitter does not get a majority in multi-person race, so that likely #2 - Dem Chris John - can beat him in Louisiana runoff a few weeks after Nov 2nd election.
In N. Carolina,The Dem seat had Dem Erskine Bowles in an early lead - but this has shrunk as GOPer Burr airs ads of Bowles with Clinton as he tries to tie Bowles to tax increases/trade with China - and claims credit for himself on the buyout for tobacco farmers.
In S. Carolina GOPer DeMint leads Dem Inez Tenenbaum for Dem Hollings seat, but the 23% national sales tax that Demint wants may yet give the Dems the seat.
In Alaska, The GOP seat has GOPer Murkowski behind Dem Knowles.
In Colorada, the GOP seat has Dem Salazar leading GOPer Pete Coors.
In Oklahoma,the GOP seat has a problem with GOPer Coburn's history - while a physician he sterilized young women against their will, and his comment that lesbianism was threatening schools in southeast Oklahoma, that may allow Dem Carson to replace retiring Sen. Don Nickles, a Republican.
I like our chances to pick up one!!
