FINALLY saw Farenheit 9-11
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 09:42 PM by Waverley_Hills_Hiker
Welll...mixed opinions....strong segement was how NO Democratic senator would sign the Democratic House protest about the election...a moment of shame for the Democrats.

The best parts, ,tho, where the plight of the Iraqis.....

....even more signifigant is that my Palestinian brother-in-law is planning on voting for Bush (he gave megabux to Bush in 2000 and was invited to the White House).

Well..his folks are over from Jordan for an extended visit, so I plan on viisiting next weekend with the DVD and play it for them all, including the moslty arabic selections on the US occupation....

After this, plus my in-laws and my folkks and my outrage, we should get my brother in law to vote Kerry this year.....

Yes it was sad no democrat would sign. I wonder myself why they wouldn't? Does anyone have any comment?

2. I had heard that Gore asked them not to
From what I heard, Gore didn't want to make serious contestations about the election, because he felt that it would be destructive after the months of ballot mess. So he asked the Senate to not "make waves".

7. I heard the same thing
They say alot of why Gore lost is because he conceded before it was over then took it back. Bush always knew he had won and was talking about the transition before the S.C. granted him the Presidency. He basically pushed his way into office. I was glad to hear that Kerry has a battery of lawyers and it it's even close he's going to make sure that doesn't happen again. This one is going to be fought to the bitter end. By bitter end I mean midnight on election night when there is no doubt it's KERRY IN A LANDSLIDE!

3. I think maybe part of it was..
..they thought it was too much of a gamble, that is - coming to the rescue of the disenfranchised African Americans. Not to say they didn't care but rather I think they were more afraid of the looney, fringe right-wing elements.

Nevertheless, It won't happen again.

Greg Palast (BBC) wrote about what happened with African American voters in his book, "The best Democracy money can buy". Chilling stuff.

4. So, your Palestinian brother-in-law approves of Bush's allowing Sharon to
murder thousands of his trapped and defenseless countrymen? What kind of Palestinian is he? Uber-rich?

6. I just saw the movie too...
And it completely sucked that the Caucus could not get a signature. I hated that.

While it doesn't excuse nobody standing with them, remember this *was* before we actually knew the extent of the evil that would ensue. I suppose every new pres, elected or un-, deserves a chance. Remember this was during the time when many of the Republicans were pressuring Dems to "get over it."

I think a small thread of slack can be cut to people who voted to authorize the use of force in Iraq because a: they thought Bush would responsibly use the authorization and b: at the time they INSISTED that there were WMD. They *knew* where they were and we were in "danger". If he'd have been *right* about the WMD, then they'd be blasting Dems and Kerry for being "unpatriotic."

Ironic how they've twisted it around so that it's Kerry's fault for authorizing the use of force. THEY were frikking wrong!!!

Bush has a horrible conflict of interest in regard to the Middle East. He should not be the president.
