My tomfoolery at the fair (Diebold)

OK, so I'm a bad boy....but you knew that.

I've been running a Dean For America booth at the county fair all week, having a good time. The booth next to us is for Ohio Secretary Of State Kenneth Blackwell...and NOBODY has been at the booth running it all week (against the fair rules, but so what).

Sooooooo......today, I decided to have a little gift for visitors to the fair, seeing as how nobody would be at the Blackwell booth to remove it. The fair asked me to remove it after about 20 minutes.

I put two signs up....you can see them on the dispay, but I took close-ups so you can read them on DU.

Understand something -- this story has gotten coverage, yes, but something else is afoot, and that is an attempt from the management levels to blackball the voting story.

Action like this is CRITICAL. America does not know about this story, and it is up to you to bring it to the rest of the world.

When Wally O'Dell SHOWS UP AT THE CRAWFORD RANCH this month as one of the "Rangers" and "Pioneers" who are the powerhouse donors and campaigners for Bush,

and when Wally O'Dell has the arrogance to promise IN WRITING that he will "deliver the votes" for Bush,

and when this makes the AP wires, which it did,

and when it gets picked up in less than a half-dozen news outlets (average for AP on a story like this is 100-200 news outlets picking it up)

when that happens, you've got some powerful people pushing the owners and management of the press to kill the story.

I've seen three powerful, documented stories that made the AP wires (hats off to AP) that got killed by management, all in the last 8 days.

Without action like AWD, we have little hope, folks. With citizen action, every day, all over the place, they'd better give us what we demand and insist on:

Open, auditable and fair elections.

34. Actually, SOS's can ignore you

Secretaries of State are pretty much isolated from any overview or restraint on what they do, especially if they have "engineered" the voting laws over time to give them power they shouldn't have.

Any time you complain to an SOS, you should also shoot a copy to the Governor and EVERY legislator in the state. You can do that. (But on some internet services, you're going to have to register to do "white spam" or they might stop you just because of the volume!)

Lots of SOS's are pretty impervious and will ignore you. You have to make the rukus ALL THROUGH the halls of state government, to get any action going.

Been there, done that. All state election offices in my state are corrupted and working AGAINST paper ballots.

Go the the officials most likely to face election sooner. Go to the people's representatives. Get lawmakers to sponsor legislation that enforces paper ballots and makes them the legal ballot of record.

If you stop at the SOS office, you can lose the battle right there.

I believe that is a good place to start, then continue on to contact local and state election officials. It takes several contacts sometimes to get answers. The point that needs to be made to all of these officials is that the American public is aware of what is going on and we won't stand for it.
