Bush unelectable by 2004?
His failures and bad policies are increasingly alienating more and more Americans. Even former Bush partisans are starting to turn against him.
The last two weeks in Iraq were a wake up call for anyone blind to GWB's incompetence as CinC.

What do you think, is GWB going to fail in 2004? I am beginning to think so.

1. Looks that way, depending on how many voting machines they get
Perhaps Bush will have an "electronic victory". His popularity seems to be dropping like a rock.

2. do not misunderestimate
the power of $200,000,000. and he'll continue raising funds right up to the election.

bush has not yet begun to spend.

$200,000,000 buys an awful lot of very impressive lies.

4. if hes dropping then we have another reason to run Kucinich
Well the first reason is because hes the right guy for it, and is the anti thesis of Bush.

9. Good point
and I think most of the candidates are capable of winning. That's why I don't like being told to vote for a certain candidate because they are the one that can "beat Bush". I'll make my choice on who I think would be best for the country. DK is my choice, but most of the others are pretty decent also.

Thats why I support him. I support DK because of his vision and he appeals to the heart. The others are pretty good too.

6. just from what I hear out there
The letters in my local paper have gone from mostly pro Bush to maybe 5 or 6 to 1 against, and these people are PISSED OFF! I also live in the south.
This is a man who in truth lost the last election.

My greatest fear is that they will pull something terrible to try to turn the tide.
What I don't underestimate are their criminal instincts.

:scared:

8. Just as BFEE has created a jobless recovery,
They are working their asses off for a voteless victory.
My question is how many of the congressional fascists are going to fall ?

10. Bush Will Probably Win ...
Edited on Sat Aug-30-03 07:21 PM by bobd
Unless any two of the following occur:

1. Another Rethug mounts a credible challenge and fights for the Rethug nomination (like Buchanan in 1992).

2. The voters feel that the economy is in recession come April (it doesn't actually have to be in recession but the majority of the voters must perceive that it is).

3. A credible 3rd party candidate emerges (like Perot in 1992)

4. The Dems nominate someone who is clearly charismatic or some sort of credible national/military hero

5. A scandal on the order of Watergate or Lewinski emerges. The scandal must be big and the press and the "public" must be all over it. Right now, even with all the shit these foul human beings are pulling, the so-called press has not grabbed onto anything and ran with it.

Just my $0.02.

Bob D.

14. "A Scandal on the order of Watergate or LEWINSKY"
Now that's just sad that Monica was the "giant sucking sound" Perot warned us about in 1992.

Seriously, there's something wrong with a society where you can lie, cheat and steal and get away with it, while some poor sucker who's under so much stress has to pay the piper so big time just for getting a blow job.

Now that really is just sad.

19. The Lewinski Scandal was a Media Creation
but it played like a scandal. It had the same effect as a "real" scandal - grand jury and formal congressal hearings - hell, even impeachment! It did have an effect on the 2000 elections. Without it Gore would have won far more states than he did and his victory would have been unequivocal and huge.

12. Impossible to tell
at this point. Look at how quickly and dramatically his popularity has fluctuated during his term so far. A lot can happen in the next year. But if trends continue as they have been, it will be an uphill battle for George. It will be interesting to see the reaction to the Republican Convention as they exploit the 9/11 victims. Will they be successful in emotionally manipulating the voters, or will this stunt turn the voters against them?

By 2004 in summer, gas prices will be up to 2.90-3.40/gal.
There will be an American soldier shot or bombed every hour in Baghdad.
We will be in a defacto economic war with S.A.

The U.N. will be on the verge of withdrawing completely from the entire Arabian region. We will have ignored at least one near unanimous resolution requiring us to leave Iraq.

Unemployment will be at officially at 10%, real numbers double that. We will be leaving a deflation cycle, headed for hyperinflation.

Armed Banditry will be frequent around gated communities in Texas, Florida, Detroit, and Kansas. Driving a lexus or hummer in deserted areas at night will get you shot and robbed. The first wave of radiation poisoned and disenfranchised soldiers from Iraq will commence freebooting on returning to America of the jobless recovery.

Next summer, at least 75,000 will die worldwide from the heat in a one week period, and one week in August will be see multiple regional blackouts, with more than 25% of the industrial society population without power. Iraqi oil will be flowing... to China, and America will be getting ready to invade the oil-bearing parts of the Gulf of Mexico and Venezhuela.

The largest non military employers will be Halliburton/Brown&Root.

If Bush is elected in 2004 it will be through fraud, and in 2005 there will be martial law. All provisions of Patriot 2 and TIA will be in effect.

However, in 2006 will be regional rebellion, possibly secession of the Blue states. If that happens, the Bush oil wars will end the same way the Russian campaign ended in WWI. Russia came to a halt.

Democracy will be restored in a smaller, democratic progressive America.
The American Confederate Republic will probably stay a seperate corporatist state, with a Bush as its head. It will have a federal executive, a ministry of war, and a corporate resources council that controls all state Governors.

The Democratic States of America will be closely allied with the Eurpean Union and may be a parlimentary democracy.

23. I think if the Repugs had half a brain they'd dump Bush
and replace him with somebody else.

They're making a huge mistake by staying with him. Honestly that's what baffles me the most about the republicans -- what would it take for them to abandon Bush? Live videotape of him fornicating with a goat? An actual admission that he caused 9/11? I mean my GOD these people stick by him no matter what he does. It's just bizarre.

Yet they jettisoned Trent Lott like so much blue ice off a 737.

I'm surprised they don't do the same to shrub.

25. It would me.
That is because Cheney is vice pres.
No one in their right mind (aka Rove and possibly Powell) wants to see him president.
So they stand or fall together, gripping each other's dossier
like a life preserver.

In the back of their minds, they worry about arrainging
a Presidential pardon in such a way that it sticks.

Hard to do while everyone is despirately overreaching.
Ashcroft, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Perle, everyone is getting their wish list with the President. It doesn't matter how stupid, Dubya is SantaClaus to his droogs. It looks like a short timer boss in a corp that is going under.

They all know that only Karl Rove is keeping them out of jail, never mind in office. If Bush steps down, or goes down, so does Cheney
This is an oligarchy with a figurehead. None of the real players gets to be 'it'. You really want to know when they are about to bail?
Watch for a killer scandal to engulf DeLay.
