DOD/Rumsfeld sat on DAMAGING report about looted WEAPONS !!!
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2004_10_24.php#003777

This has been rumored in Washington for several days. And now the Nelson Report has broken the story.

Some 350 tons of high explosives (RDX and HMX), which were under IAEA seal while Saddam was in power, were looted during the early days of the US occupation. Like so much else, it was just left unguarded.

Not only are these super-high-yield explosives probably being used in many, if not most, of the various suicide and car bombings in Iraq, but these particular explosives are ones used in the triggering process for nuclear weapons.

In other words, it's bad stuff.

What also emerges in the Nelson Report is that the Defense Department has been trying to keep this secret for some time. The DOD even went so far as to order the Iraqis not to inform the IAEA that the materials had gone missing. Informing the IAEA, of course, would lead to it becoming public knowledge in the United States.

3. Rumsfeld guarded the oil industry and that was it.
No guarding of civilians - they were abused, tortured, detained, and murdered.

No guarding of weapons and explosives - looted.

No guarding of the world's oldest civilization's artifacts - looted.

No guarding of the environment - all destroyed in the name of oil.

of NUCLEAR stuff (waste?), and some of those barrels were looted and later used for water and yogurt containers.

Edited: ALL of this negligent NON-performance was absolutely criminal.

I'll never forget the sorrow and grief I felt over the looting of the museums, those precious antiquities. It's not that the human tragedy didn't affect me deeply, but life (humanity) DOES go on, these things were irreplaceable.

And how ironic. We went in and trashed the cradle of civilization, trashed and laid waste to it. Our War on Civilization itself.

7. It's just another thing
to call our senators about first thing Monday morning. Let's urge them, en masse, to make sure that it becomes an issue and that they get to the bottom of it.
