How many "elites" are dying in the quest for imperialism?
I ask this question because I have found through many long and arduous debates..this simple question debunks the pro-war lobby..the simple rational is ,if the ruling "elite"..politicans..corporate execs etc..believe so strongly in this quest why are they not prepared to sacrifice their children or loved ones? why is it that the "working class" have, throughout history made the ultimate sacrifice for the benefit of the few..?

1. hmmmmm
as those whimsical Beastie Boys put it:

"Now how many people must get killed
For oil families pockets to get filled?
How many oil families get killed
Not a damn one so what’s the deal?"

http://download.nullsoft.com/pub/music/BeastieBoys-InAWorldGoneMad.mp3 for the track... catchy!

2. um, none?
Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
ooh, they're red, white and blue.
And when the band plays "Hail To The Chief",
oh, they point the cannon at you, Lord,

It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no senator's son,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate one, no,

CCR fortunate son

although a couple of those kennedy boys fought well and one was left upon the battlefield.

4. I don't think many rich go into the military
Military is touted as the way to pay for education, receive career training, and have a career rewarded by merit. The rich do not need any of these things.

5. I believe you answered my point..
you are absolutely correct the rich do not need the military for education ..career advancement that is provided for them (regardless of ability..GWB ?)..the poorer sections of the community who have no access to these amenities are left little choice but to serve in the military..and it starts at very young age through military indoctrination at schools targetting minority groups ..

9. an interesting george galloway article
http://english.aljazeera.net/Articles/News/GlobalNews/US+attacked+over+green+card+soldiers.htm

"The people who made the decisions never sent their sons to get hot, bloody and dirty on the battlefield," he said.

Even when there was a draft, the decision-makers stayed out of trouble. "The white sons of the rulers of America, including a certain George W Bush, have always found ways around the draft, in his case through his bogus service in the air auxiliary, while Dick Cheney took one course after another at university," he said.
