Poll question: What % of Congressional Dems "fight for progressive values?" IOW -

what percent of them, in your opinion, can be said to faithfully defend the interests of the broad mass of American people -- as opposed to primarily representing corporate interests & those of our society's privileged elite?

(Note: I don't mean to be horning in on Terwilliger's earlier somewhat similar poll. My feeling was that re-formulating the question might offer the advantage of providing a quantitative glimpse into the general question "How satisfied are posters here with what elected Democrats do in Congress?")

2. I think you might just as easily ask the inverse question:

To what degree has access to wealth replaced genuine representative public service as a prime motivator in the Democratic Party?

But the number should be 0% - I expect politicians to remember the lesson of World War One and put the interests of the world before those of the nation.

6. Actually, this is a very good point. I use the number of Prog. Caucus

members to estimate how many of the Dems are "worth their salt." My feeling is that if you take the number of members (about 54, last time I counted) and divide by the number of Dems in Congress (maybe 208 or so), you get a number like 25%. So I use this as an upper limit of how many Dems are NOT worthless. However, not everyone in the Progressive Caucus is worth his/her salt. That's because there are some pro-Israel militarists, airheads like Pelosi, & other assorted phonies in there.

I do think, though, that this ratio is a reasonable guide to roughly how many Dems are worthless & how many aren't. Certainly, all the Dems I have respect for (Kucinich, Stark, Lee, Conyers, McDermott, Waxman, etc) are ALL members of the PC. And Bernie (not a Dem) is one of the very best of the lot.
