Greens For Dean?

She's already been to three MeetUps with me and is an enthusiastic supporter. She only wishes she could vote in the primary, but is SO excited about being able to vote for the first time next year.

I'm even going to change my registration temporarily in order to vote for him in the primary. I know quite a few people who are also going to do this.

Who knows, maybe if the the majority of the party decides to stop pandering to the right, nationalizes the election and decides to stand for its once progressive principles again, I might even switch permanently.

I'm reregistering as a Dem to vote in the primary and may keep it there until after the 2004 election, but I'm not sure yet. Although I agree 100% with all of the Green Party platform issues, we often differ strongly on tactics and strategies.

Right now, we need unity among all moderates to progressives to defeat the neocons and the hard right. Overlooking some issue differences to unite their party and win is how the Rethuglicans got where they are today. Too many Greens and Dems don't understand that even now - and the issue is absolutely crucial.

We can work on our differences later, after we've evicted the BFEE.

which is why I sometimes question the motives of those who start these Green/Dem basing threads- especially those where the originator has a low post count.

Hell, I'm even happy to have the DLC types in the tent, though I wish they'd tone down their rhetoric and get off center stage. If the last two elections demonstrated anything, it was that playing Bush lite is a losing strategy- something the Dean campaign understands, even if the "mainstream" punditocracy will never publicly say so.

will be meeting Dean personally next Sunday at a fundraiser at Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren's house. Cost me a hundred bucks. First campaign donation I have ever made. Am I excited? Hell yeah!

11. Well, speaking as a Red Democrat that voted for Nader in 2000

I am for Dean, 100%.

If Dean stumbles, I am for Kucinich.

If Kucinich drops out, I am for Mosley-Braun.

If Mosley-Braun quits, I am for Sharpton.

Here comes the hard part, which of those that voted for the war in Iraq will I support?

Gephardt? Only out of loyalty to his being there for Labor more often than not.

Edwards? He should concentrate on his reelection campaign and quit before he loses any more ground with his constituency. I won't vote for Edwards unless he changes his tune on Iraq.

Lieberman? Tough call. I have come to respect the gnome from Connecticut despite of how much I am against many of his views. Respecting a candidate does not mean that I will vote for him, and Lieberman is no exception. I will admit that compared to Bush, even the dog Barney is preferable as President. I don't expect Lieberman to change his views on Iraq, so I find it unlikely that I would vote for him (living in a republican state like Indiana affords me the luxury of throwing my vote away without consequences).

Kerry? He is as much of a neocon as Wolfowitz. No dice!

...that Dean continues on his present course with steady momentum.

If we continue to support Dean and spread the word, helping give him even greater name recognition and positive associations with the issues people care about, I don't see how he can lose.

Ordinary people, even those who originally supported this administration, are worried. They're beginning to look around and see the dismal turnaround this country has taken under the BFEE. It's starting to hit them at home, with the continuing body count from the Middle East, as well as hitting them in their jobs (or lack of same), in their schools, and their healthcare. Those who are environmentally conscious also see the incessant attacks on the environment, while those who are not aware can be educated.

People are ready to pay attention now. Our job, as Dean supporters, is to keep putting the issues in front of them. We have to keep pointing out GOP lies, scare tactics, hypocrisy, and deception. Then we can offer hope, with Dr. Dean's excellent record as governor (contrasted with W's Texas & national record), as well as his practical remedies for the future.

i fancy myself a red dem too and respect your opinion...but dont u think u shouldnt shoot the messenger, shoot the sender...ie...dont blame kerry for getting freaked out about iraw, when he was being pumped full of bush's pressured CIA lies...while kerry was on the intell commititee.
