to allow a hearing about how we got into IraqGate? Letters? Petitions? Anything? It's obvious that the Democratic congress cannot get it to the floor. Can't WE THE PEOPLE do SOMETHING?

1. organize a petition/letter/demonstration

AND GET IT TO YOUR SENATORS AND REPRESENTATIVES. if their constituents feel very srtongly on an issue, then they should feel very strongly on an issue. big marches and protests look nice on tv but since those are usually made up of people from different voting districts or even states the congress people won't hear you

2. I've written Kay Bailey Hutchinson and Joe Barton, and all I get ...

is the exact same form letter from both. A petition of 1000 names might work, I'm not against trying. But it would be good if petitions happened in all the districts represented here on DU. Hmmm, think people would go to that much trouble? Not as much fun as posting, is it?

I'm discovering there are some ready to go activist groups in the area that might be up for somethng like this if they haven't started already.

around here we have a fairly well organized green party that might take something like this up (at least an email drive) and then there is a citizens for peace group that could lend a hand. I live near a liberal college town so that's a plus, someone's always protesting something.

If a majority of Reps--218 to be exact--gather enough signatures, they can override the autocracy of Tom DeLay and, at least in the House, they can begin proceedings.
