seriously, I think europeans frequent his site for news, and they always vote in the polls...I've been following them and they seem to be on our side more than 90% of the time.

15. Where did the "WhistleAss" nickname come from?
I was away from DU for a few days, musta missed it. And what does it mean?

I happen to love it. No spurious nickname is too good for The First Dog-Dropper. But I'd like to know the details...

22. It comes from the news story about Sally Baron's obituary
http://209.157.64.200/focus/f-news/968683/posts

When Sally Baron's family wrote her obituary, they described a northern Wisconsin woman who raised six children and took care of her husband after he was crushed in a mining accident.

<snip>

"My uncle asked if there was a cause," her youngest son, Pete Baron, said.

Almost in unison, what her children decided to include in the obituary was this: "Memorials in her honor can be made to any organization working for the removal of President Bush."

<snip>

Bettilyon, who lives in Stoughton, said her mother didn't trifle with petty neighborhood squabbles but was attuned to significant policy-making at all levels.

"She'd always watch CNN, C-SPAN, and you know, she'd just swear at the TV and say 'Oh, Bush, he's such a whistle ass!' She'd just get so mad," Bettilyon said.

12. What amazes me are the 85% plus numbers in a lot of these
polls. You would assume that in a normal demographic spread the Wingnut element that cannot see reason in anything would provide at least 25%.

14. The "yes" vote is up to 89 percent now.
MAYBE the people are starting to get it, but I wonder if those are the same ones who still insist on giving little king george 50-plus job approval rating.

It's like most of the country is saying

"...but other than that, I really like the guy."

16. you can read the question two ways
If you are a statist miltarist ("conservative") you may see any admission of failure in an extremely negative, "anti-american" light and object on the grounds that you would rather send every last American over there to die rather than admit we ever did something stupid.

18. I disagree with
the way the poll is worded. I don't think it is an admission of failure on the part of the United States, I think it is an admission of failure on the part of this "mis"administration and the pack of wolves and thieves in it who foisted this mess on the world.

I almost think that I were in charge of the UN, and the * cabal came to me now after the way they treated the UN leading up to this fiasco,
I would tell them to Fuck Off !!! (sorry about that folks)

But I know that that won't help the innocent people in Iraq or anyone else in the world at this point either. Maybe what the UN should do is offer to help, but not under a US commander as shrub wants, only under a UN appointed commander. That would really stick in their craw wouldn't it !

21. I was just going to say that
Edited on Wed Sep-03-03 02:51 PM by ComerPerro
The Freepers are probably out in force voting "yes" for this.

Why?

They don't want to go to the UN (Unless it involves an all-out amphibious assault on the HQ to destroy the UN and stop it from "opressing" the will of the "freedom loving" citizens of the US

Also, when a Dem wins in 2004 and goes to the UN to apologize for Bush's arrogance and outright stupidity, the FReepers can say that the Dem President is admidting that he is a failure.
