2. ahh...
you may be right. I recall hearing that when they did the "alphabet lottery".

Well, I'm in Santa Cruz county... I doubt arnold will carry our area even WITH a prominent place on the ballot ;)

3. the alphabet lottery!
They did a huge spoof of that on The Daily Show. Man, I love Jon Stewart.

Good luck Cali, I'm putting a lot of hope in your state right now!

7. Are you going to be able to get absentee ballots?
We've been informed that we have to go pick them up in our country (San Luis Obispo) because they won't have time to mail them out. After BevHarris's post on possible voting machine irregularities in my county I think it's imperative to vote absentee. At least I hope this is a better option. I just don't know anymore.

11. Whaaaaaaa?
as wonderful Jon Stewart would say! I also live in San Luis Obispo, but in the town itself so maybe we get some kind of preference...? Anyway, we are allowed and I am going to vote absentee. What an f-ing waste of taxpayer money.

12. We were told by the Democratic Club in my area, that
absentee ballots wouldn't be sent out. Go figure.

13. I've given up on the Dem Party offices even in SLO proper!
I registered to vote there (moved, so had to re-register, was downtown and SHOCK, they were open!) and they told me not to worry, that the re-registration would get to the Registrar at the end of that day. + it's law they get to the Registrar in < or = 3 days. I waited a week, to be safe, called the Registrar to make sure I was on with new address. They weren't there. I called the Dem Party Hdqtrs and they explained w/all the mess this time that the Registrars were sending them to Sacto first and not to be concerned because they would be back and on the books soon to be sure. So, I waited another week. I called the Registrar back and was told there was no such deal about sending them to Sacto, that the Demo Party had broken the law, at least in my case, and that they had indeed received the re-registration which was now all safe and sound, BUT they had received it 2 days prior, i.e. after 12 days of the date I had signed on the form. hmmmmm, 12 vs 3...interesting! They said (1) that they had ALREADY notified the Dem Party of their violation and (2) that the sample ballots + absentees are in the mail, that they are being sent out in batches so (3) everyone should receive theirs by the end of next week (i.e. by 9/12/03).

8. Dookus--while I have you on the line----what is your take of the reaction
of folks that Arnuuuld is passing on the debates. What a joke. I guess he can only memorize lines---a perfect republican. AND, I would love to say to CA that this "I don't have to lower myself to participate in the usual, expected things" is soooo typical of the trash in D.C. No doubt now in my mind that Arnuuuld is really bringing Bush, so to speak, to CA. I hope CA people realize that.

9. first...
to answer a question above:

there are three double-sided cards with 25 names per side and include two non-recall initiatives.

As for passing on the debates, he's taking a bit of a hit, at least in the local papers. It certainly can't help him, but I think his approach is to "do as little harm as possible" and debating can only harm him at this point.

I still have hope that we can defeat this recall, and barring that, that Bustamante will be put in. But this is California, so anything can happen.

14. Right, Dookus,
on the morning news, they televised a real slam on the Terminator about ducking the debates; however, as you say, his attempt at debate would actually have hurt him more!

This *@#* recall had better go down!!!

:grr: :kick:
