just might be the straw that breaks the camels back. I believe he would have the best chance of anyone running to not just beat Bush, but beat him in a landslide victory. All the tough talk, "bring em on" and posing in a flight suit on the aircraft carrier that "AWOL" did is gonna come back to bite him in the ass if this 4 star General and Purple Heart receipient decides to run. On top of that, he's a Rhodes Scholar from Oxford. Kinda like someone else we all know that spent the past 8 years in the White House. God, I hope he runs.

To be honest, I don't think it matters diddle-squat who the veep nominee is during the actual race. Races aren't won by who the second man on the slate is (unless he has a hacking cough and significant chaffing). Look, this country elected Dan Quayle veep.

I do, however, think a strong veep can help win a second term.

Clark has more experience with leadership and dealing with grand and large matters - he was Supreme Commander of NATO, for Pete's Sake - that's kinda like being King of the World.

21. ORCHESTRATED "Clark-Mania"

In my opinion, the whole "Clark thing" has been orchestrated by the Draft Clark people. Typical boiler-room politics. I have decided to pay no attention to all of these silly "I worship the General" posts. By the way, there are some longtime DUers who support Clark - I'm not talking about them, obviously. I get sick when I read another poster with 23 posts saying, "I'm not sure who I'm going to support." BUT, by post 31 -- there is a HUGE Clark banner at the bottom of their posts.

Orchestrated - in MY opinion.

26. Actually I remember saying he impressed me in that he was concerned

about the way the Bush government was alienating many of the U.S.A.'s former allies. As a Canadian I am concerned that we get back to our former good relations with our neighbours to the south. Also it would be a welcome change to have a person as President who is intelligent and informed about the world. Wasn't Clark a Rhodes Scholar? My post #23 sounded like I was being dismissive and I didn't mean it to be.

Dean/Clark, Clark/Dean, doesn;t really matter much to me. Hell, Kerry/Clark would get me active and I really don't like Kerry after the Iraq war vote (but Clark on the ticket would get me active).

10. Clark is a mighty player!

I'm not a Clark fan, but if he does step into the race it'll be hard to ignore him. He has the cred, the look, and the talk. Matching him up against Bush would be hillarious as well as great for the Dems. Can someone imagine awol fratty who looks like he's been beat with a bat vs. well dressed, well spoken general with a golden smile.

I'm hopeing for a Clark/Braun ticket. Yeah maybe that's way out there but I'd be exited. Clark/Kerry is also very good.

12. Clark/Kucinich would win in a landslide

Everything the Democratic party needs to be the majority party again. Clark/Kucinich is strong on national security and defense, strong on civil rights and the rule of law, strong on economic justice and a fair society. Expect a ticket like that to win a landslide of 40 states.

I would instantly develop respect for him and get behind them both.

I like Dean but have some reservations:

1. the selector page claims that Dean was opposed to the war, but I recall that he voted for it. WTF??? I thought Kucinich was the only one to put his vote where his mouth is. No Dean claims he's anti war after voting for it?

2. my wife told me Dean grew up in the Hamptons - this has the negative connotation of people with too much money and detachment.

17. Dean grew up on Park Avenue, and his family has roots in Smith Barney.

HIs family's business was the Wall Street scene, and one of his great whatevers was a founder of Smith Barney.
His parents belonged to the Maidstone Club, which is really exclusive (if memory serves correctly, they wouldn't even let Clinton play golf there--AFTER he was President).
Howard was a Wall Streeter until he realized his calling was medicine.

But, Dean didn't vote for the war because he was governor of Vermont, not a member of Congress.

I can't imagine a more winnable ticket for the Democratic party, and the coattails would win us Congress. Clark has wide appeal to most Americans, and Kucinich appeals to our base, and is the most credible candidate on labor issues.

This could really happen, and the next 20 years in the United States would be much better off for it.

We have some excellent excellent candidates. There are a few that I would be very proud to support. Clark getting into the race is icing on the cake. Each and every one of them make the Bush Crime Family look like...well, a bunch of incompetent criminals. :toast:
