Poll question: Blind Senatorial Candidate Poll
I won't tell you who is who, although I carry the link to one in my signature.

Who would you pick in a primary for Senate:

  • A. An incumbent Democratic Congressman who is supported by the state party machine, believes in FREE TRADE, and voted FOR the Patriot Act and FOR the Iraq Authorization

  • B. An activist human rights Democratic Underground millionaire member supported by other maybe-not-as-influential Democrats who is for _FAIR_ TRADE (imposing tariffs on China and other countries that take our jobs through currency manipulation and unfair trade policy) AGAINST the Patriot Act and AGAINST the Iraq Authorization, although we now have a humanitarian duty to clean our mess up.

8. Hoeffel looks pretty good, actually
Totally pro-choice, pro-gay rights, pro-medical marijuana, supports reducing class size (OTOH he also supports No Child Left Behind), pro-Kyoto, anti-ANWR drilling, pro-free trade, pro-UN, voted pro-gun control on the only vote given in On the Issues, anti-tax cut, pro-immigration... That's pretty good enough for me, I must say.

10. i've always wondered why my ultra-right wing congressman opposed NCLB
it's one of only two things he's right on (the other being perscription drugs, probably because there's a lot of seniors in this district)

5. Well, that's biased

I'm uncommitted in the PA Senate race. However, I don't think you're showing the totality of Hoeffel's record.

NOTE: Kerry could fit your Hoeffel description.

Therefore, I abstain.

6. This is a stupid poll
Crystle has no record to look back on and analyze every single vote. Hoeffel does have that record because he has experience. I wonder how Crystle would vote on these issues when he felt political pressures to vote certain ways.

Does Crystle plan on spending his own millions on his campaign? Because I have a real problem with rich people spending their own money to get elected.

11. Crystle's a millionaire businessman
hardly the type of guy to be trusted. he could OK but that fact alone makes hardly near perfection.

Hoeffel has a lifetime ACU rating of 5 and ADA rating above 95. trying to smear him is essentially nitpicking.

14. didn't start as a millionaire; why is success a bad quality?
The most money I made before 1997 was under $15,000. That was the year we raised money, at which point I was about $400,000 in debt trying to make the business work. I'm not what you would call a comfortable millionaire--it's a very awkward thing for someone who used to be a starving musician and spends vacations in Guatemala or Honduras on Human Rights missions. I'm not sure why my success would be a barrier. I do think there is a difference between reasonable wealth and excessive wealth (excessive wealth being any amount over what's reasonable, reasonable is hard to peg but you know it when you see it). But I'm also not comfortable begrudging someone their success or their wealth if it was made legitimately. Now, legitimacy is another issue. Executive compensation is completely outrageous in a lot of companies (an non-profits!), and I wonder if there is something we can do about that without getting labelled pinko commie scum.

16. Why waste a vote for A?
As a former Republican that has seen the light, why the hell would you waste a vote on "A".

Free trade is destroying this country. You can hardly get a decent job anymore and the Iraq war is the biggest flop from a military standpoint since Hannibal had the wise (yeah, right! :eyes: ) idea to invade Rome by way through the Alps.

I also believe it is the worst of hypocrisy to impose sanctions on Cuba that hurts everyone EXCEPT Castro's regime when we fete Chinese dignitaries that torture prisoners of conscience. Even small Statue of Liberty replicas are made by imprisoned workers. :evilfrown:

Many of my friends still in the GOP are turning on Bush. I'm 22 and some people at my technical school who were die-hard Republicans, including the instructor, a straight GOP voter since 1980, are liking Dean.

If Dean is nominated, we will see the biggest grassroots phenomena sweep this nation since Kennedy in 1960 and Wellstone's 1990 Senate campaign.
