Did Clark guarantee himself a spot on the ticket today?
It seems to me that with today's announcement, he rises to the top of any list of potential VP candidates. Also, if he runs, he still has a good shot at being at the top of the ticket.

Anyone wanna wrangle with me here?

1. No wrangle. . .
. . .but regardless of who wins the nomination, Clark is my guy but I will support whoever wins, I doubt the VP candidate will come from the ranks of the presidential candidates.

3. That he was indeed a Democrat.
To be fair though, it was just an interview with Woodruff, which CNN changed to "Clark's announcement". They hyped it up a bit more than necessary--but basically, Clark said yes, I'm a Democrat.

4. He announced that he was a Democrat. . .
. . .it was not an announcement as much as an interview on CNN and proclaimed that he is proud to be a Democrat.

5. Clark/Kucinich - national defense with economic populist appeal
Kerry and Dean wouldn't stand a chance. Clark/Kucinich is the ticket that makes the Democratic party the majority again.

7. It will be Clark/Dean ticket
in that order. I predicted this 6 months ago. It's who the party machine believes will win the election.

Once Clark announces - you will see the machine start to take shape and all gears will go into high drive - Kerry, Gephardt, Graham & Lieberman will drop out first. They will all throw support to Clark/Dean and the major campaigning will begin.

I think the ticket has already been decided. I saw Dean interviewed a couple of weeks ago and when asked about Clark getting into the race -his face just lit up with joy. He looked like a man who knew something more than the rest of us.

IMO, this is why Clark is entering late. To give Dean more exposure, as well as the other candidates speaking out on the issues. Also, the less time Clark and Dean have to compete against each other - the better. They will tread lightly with each other and will appear to agree on more things than disagree.

All of this will become more apparent over the next 6 months.
