Should I go to a meet up?
I am undecided about a candidate at this point. My heart belongs to Kuchinch, but my head says we need a Clark or a Kerry if we are going to win. Should I go to the DK meeting tomorrow and the Clark one on Monday and the Kerry one later in the month? Or should I stay away from all of them until I make a decision? Undecided Annie

1. There are Dean meetups tonight and Clark meetups on Monday. . .
Try to attend one or both of them!

2. Go to a meetup or several as the case may be
it's not vote or even a declaration of allegiance, and it feels good to meet like minded people.

3. You should go to Kucinich meetup.
I think he and Kerry have much in common and I support them both with no reservations.

They are the two candidates closest to Wellstone.

4. Attending the meetups and meeting supporters
of various candidates will help you make a more informed decision. I say go to as many meetups as you can handle.

5. I've always wanted to go to the Dean meetups...
but Wednesdays are terrible for me. Plus, I want to make sure he is the candidate for me, before I commit my time to his campaign.

19. A bunch of us DUers here in So Cal are going to Dean meetups
tonight! I'm looking forward to it. But then again, I'll probably have to wait til the end of the evening to get across the room. The last month meeting was so packed you couldn't move!

6. You have everything to gain
and nothing to lose.
Nothing like up close and personal to help you decide.

7. Sure, why not? Go to as many as you can!
The more you learn about each candidate the more informed you'll be. And, which ever candidate you decide to back, they WON'T be *, so how can you go wrong?

And, in the long run, if you decide to back candidate A, but candidate B gets the Dem nomination, so what? Start supporting candidate B for The Big One in 11/04! What's important is not that you started supporting the "Right" candidate from the beginning, but that you support a Democrat. IMHO.

9. I say try them all out
Talk to all the folks there and be honest about your indecision. Find out why people are excited about their candidates and weigh that with your own convictions and your gut feelings about who can run the long race and win the most states in the GE.

Relax Annie, it's only the future of the free world. :pals:

No seriously, all the men you mentioned are good people imho. You should go, and see where you are comfortable. Plus it's a great way to learn more about all of them.

11. LOL, John, I knew you would say that
I have been a long time DK admirer and will go to his meet up tomorrow. Very few people in my right wing town take DK seriously. They remember the bad press DK got as mayor.

I think their opinions are solidified every time they drive by the empty National Guard Armory. We have far too many soldiers from our area in Iraq right now. Clark or Kerry have a better chance at peeling some of those votes away from Bush. I have to keep my eye on the target, no matter how much the target looks like a chimp.

In the end, my vote will go to the democrat on the ballot. Even Joe.

12. yeah
you live near Cleveland huh? Well anyone but Lieberman would be good but I would love DK. On Joe heres something that shocked me my grandmother lol like you a coalminersdaughter as well funny that I bring her up, well she supports Kerry and opposed the war, and said she would hate to have to vote for Lieberman and this is a woman I thought was moderate, now theres more, she likes Sharpton for saying what must be said, wouldnt mind DK getting a cabinet position, etc shes more liberal than she thinks.

14. coalminers kids are generally pretty liberal
We know what it is like to start a union and what it take to keep one strong. When Dad picked up his rifle and said he was going to shoot some rats, I knew a scab was going to be buying some new tires for his car. Give your grandma a hug from me the the next time you see her.

16. yeah I know
You probably like John L Lewis too am I right. Its interesting about her, I for one think Kerry is more liberal than Dean but her problem with Dean is that hes too liberal, I told her otherwise she understands now, still a Kerry supporter :) which is a ok because Kerry is my backup. Her husband is also one. My dads side well a little less working class but no doubt democratic all the way.

13. Thanks for the confirmation
I will be attending as many as possible. My dear sweet right wing husband will just have to deal with it. I will have to make a decision soon. There are NO meet ups scheduled in my county. I have to do something about that.

17. I've been married for 30 years to a Bush fan
I don't know how I do it either. My husband is a registered Democrat, but has these uncontrollable urges to vote for big business men. He actually thinks someday he is going to get rich in the stock market. I think I'll go flush the toilet again and listen to the sound of his money going down the drain.

20. Go to as many meetups as interest you.
Let them know you're undecided and looking for information. What will happen is that you'll get positive presentations on all the candidates that you're interested in, and from there you can hunt up more in depth information that what you have.

Basically, you'll get enough to get you started in making a selection, but the real research and decision will be up to you, and you shouldn't be exposed to the rumors and outright lies that are floating around.
