Why am I getting pop-ups here?

Twice now I've clicked on a thread subject line and gotten a pop-up along with the thread.
What gives?

you may have unententionally picked up an ad-program elsewhere in surfing. happened to me about six months ago. started receiving pop-ups where none should be. a friend recommened the free-ware program Ad-Aware 6.0 (don't know the ip address, but it should be easily googled). first time i ran it, it found about a dozen different hidden programs i had downloaded without knowing. it deleted them and the problem was solved.
