Low expectations for Arnold
Arnold is playing the Bush game of low expectations.
Remember everyone thought that Bush was so stupid that
Gore would wipe him out with facts and figures and so
Bush just got credit for being able to stand up
with his tie on straight.

Arnold is somewhat the same...he's all muscles and
people give him some leeway for not being a Harvard grad.
He has a strong accent (even after 30 years...) so
people might give him a pass for not being able to
form long sentences in English (although that's not true)
He gets away with little choppy soundbites.

He's acting like Bush by giving short speeches
when and where he wants, substituting these for
any hard challenges.

When he finally shows up to some debate, he'll get rave
reviews for not falling on his face.
The debate of low expectations.

I am sure I could add more to this POV, but you get the
gist.

1. To me that is the most ridiculous way to look at something so
serious as the Govenor of Cal or the potus!

Whoever came up with that "low expectation thing"...was instrumental in giving us Low achievers!

You mean like Bush*? The whole damn Republican party thrives on the low expectation thing. It's always the "Liberal Media" or illegals voting or a million excuses why they can't do something. Then when they actually show up with their tie on straight they are thought of as heros that fought their way through the "Liberal Media" etc. etc. etc. It is the basic of Republicanism. Playing the victim card.

6. He is saying over and over again.
"We need to get the message out."
"We need to get the message out for change."

Sound familiar? Stolen right out of Bush's mouth.

7. Remember.....
it didn't work for Bush in California - we've seen it all out here and Arnie isn't playing well no matter what the rest of the country thinks. California right now if laughing at him, and, believe it or not, it's kind of sad. I hated the fact that somebody threw an egg at him today - that's really uncool and he didn't deserve that. I'm voting no for the recall and would love to vote for Arianna, but I thinks it's vital to keep California a Democratic state because of 2004, so will back it up with Bustemante.

8. Welcome spenbax
and yes you are right.

As much as I enjoy hearing the voices on the left,
keeping California led by Dems is crucial to next year's
Presidential race.

People don't really think through the facts in this state...
that we have an $8 billion deficit now with bonds, that
there is a Legislature that takes a 2/3rds vote on bills,
that people's initiatives that have passed on previous
ballots have tied up a major part of each budget, so there
really isn't a lot to play with. Revenues have gone down
but they have all over the country. Unfortunately in good
times, the money is spent by both parties.

I really abhor lazy and uninformed voters. I hope
that Arnold finds out that his little mini-mall appearances
won't fool all the people.

9. Welcome to DU spenbax.
Yes, I believe Californians don't go for the low expectations marketing. I'm sure it will backfire on him.

10. Thanks....
for the welcome from both of you. I've been around, mostly lurking, for a very long time, but day by day I'm getting angrier and angrier. Funny looking word, angrier - looks foreign. Most people when asked who they will vote for in CA say "Well, it won't be Arnold" so it just really shows how biased the press is, and what a bunch of hypocrites Repubs are - "past" sex just doesn't seem to bother them; it's "sex right now" that gets 'em. Stupid people.
