SW Missouri hosts some of the most racist motherf*ckers on the planet. They hate everyone - blacks, jews, immigrants, you name it. I can't say anything better for downstate Illinois. I went to school there - live in Chicago now. Though it has its problems, it's still good. People can actually live together. Really, as soon as you get south of Route 30, you're heading into Deliverance territory.

I just read today that crime is up. Violent crime is on its way up. Who has contributed to this state of affairs, none other than George W. Bush.

Police departments across the country are cutting back due to fiscal failures in the local communities budgets. One of the first acts performed by Bush was to cut the funds that Clinton had secured for more police.

Unless you are lucky and rich enough to be in one of the gated communities secure with your own police force you and your loved ones are probably in for a very brutish life.

The way to appease some of people is to extol the power of the state to kill a presumed malefactor.

Back in another life, I served on the Director's Staff in a very large Correctional System as the Administrator of Internal Affairs. Although my state had a Death Penalty, they had not actually executed anyone until the late 1980s. As it became apparent that appeals would soon exhaust, like any bureaucracy, we had to develop a procedure for the execution. Talk about surreal, to bat a policy around that would culminate in someone actually being executed.

To put it bluntly, we were writing administrative policy for killing a MFer! When that realization sank home with me as well as my role in the execution in the Death Chamber acting to record the proceedings in a log including the condemed human's last words, I knew with finality that I was in the wrong business.

16. A part of the reason for some of those "heavy" meals-

at least in the past before lethal injection, was the desire by the condemned to make as big a mess as possible when hung or electrocuted and the bowels release.
I'm not sure if it's a by-product of lethal injection as well- does anyone know?
A lot of times, when a man is hanged by the neck, he'll spontaneously ecaculate, which was a part of the perverse "appeal" of public hangings.

Where Texas used to perform its executions. The local paper had a little box with that week'd death row inmate's final meals on it. Very creepy.

Also, I've never seen so much crapola from McDonald's, though apparently they've stopped doing that.

23. Florida is full of shit...that stat page is made to look as though

minorities don't get put to death in greater numbers but given that 78% of the population is white..it still indicates that minorities are more likely to get the death penalty.

The ones requesting cigarettes got denied. I guess the state wants to make sure you're nice and healthy when they execute you.
