Why would the * Administration choose to lie about NY air after Sept 11th?
http://msnbc.com/news/961134.asp?0cv=CA01

(snip)
Sept. 3 — Just days after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the agency responsible for the environmental health of Americans declared the air and water safe in New York. But now, in her first interview since the release of a troubling report, the Environmental Protection Agency’s top watchdog says the agency didn’t have the facts when it said it was safe to move back to the neighborhoods near Ground Zero. And she’s pointing the finger all the way to the White House.

Which raises the question? Why lie about it? There is no reason. Why put thousands at risk? Why? Why? Why?

ANSWER: Because environmental studies, or any other study including a study on Iraq, have no meaning to *. They are just letters on paper. Why even read them?

1. To the BFEE, ordinary people are subhumans.
We do not count even one tiny little bit except for exploitation.

2. Well if they would have told us.
We all might have left town and then who would be at ground zero for his photo op.

3. It was about money and the economy
Think of what it would cost to clean up Manhattan after it was declared a toxic waste zone. Then think about the effect on the economy of a deserted Manhattan, moving Wall St, the economic loss of real estate, etc.

If people realized what was involved, Bush* might be forced into actually doing something.

4. Because most people

wanted reassurance, and he complied.

And like Britney Spears they trusted him.

Common sense would have told people the air and water wouldn't be 'safe'

6. There are several schools very close to WTC
Including Stuyvesant High School, the public school for gifted kids. Also several elementary schools. I can't remember when they went back in those buildings, but it was before the school year was out, IIRC.

9. EPA limited the liability of insurance companies (including Christie
Todd Whitman's investments), limit the cost to corporations of cleaning up the environment for their employees, and to prevent the evacuation of the area (which would lower property values for bush* big corporate donors)....

bush* has made lots of decisions to stifle the EPA and the ability of people to find out about their health...it started when he stole the WH and immediated decided that YOU could drink lots of arsenic in your drinking water without complaining....there have been many more actual WH orders to stop EPA from protecting people's health...not taking samples limits the corporations liability...there simply is NO data to take to court and NO data for employees to refuse to work in a toxic environment...all shrub's supporters know how it works...this was just a bigger project, but handled in the same immoral actions toward the common worker....

it's all part of the BIG picture plan for cheap-labor conservatives...to limit environmental regulation because it costs money to corporations....

ultimately though, shrub and his minions refuse to realize that it really is just a shifting of costs...it actually costs MORE to deregulate, because of the increased burdens on hospitals, health care workers and medical personnel, loss taxes from disabled workers, children with asthma, loss work time, etc. etc....of course, shrub is cutting coverage for healthcare AND the requirement for emergency wards to care for EMERGENCIES of non-insured...many of these people will just DIE, which is no big deal for the shrub...

bottom line...BFEE did this as part their corporate-sponsored efforts to deregulate...the ignorance of it is that eventually, the diseases still occur....and the long-term damage cannot be spun away because toxic chemicals still react, even though the shrub claims NO.

10. Halliburton subsidiary Dresser is already getting
hammered for asbestos liabilities in incurred when it purchased an asbestos products manufacturer WR Grace. These products were in the WTC. Paul Wellstone and Senator Patty Murray where trying to expose the dangers of these products and they were met with stiff resistance from the Bushistas who intervened to nix warnings the EPA was going to send out.

Wellstone died last year and three WR Grace execs involved in "safety" died in a small plane crash in early 03'. Patty Murray has been all but shut up on the subject.

This little scandal could bust the Bushistas big time IMHO.
