but I'll ask it. I don't know much about primaries and campaigning, but anyway, I live in upstate New York, in the suburbs of Syracuse, and I really want to meet a lot of the candidates running for the Democratic nomination. Do you think that later in the year they will leave Iowa and New Hampshire and come to events in Syracuse, because I'd really love to meet them and talk to them and such. I don't know how many delegates each state has or how the apportionment of delegates works, but is NY an important state for the Democratic candidate to win in order to get the nomination? If so, I would imagine that they would come here, but I would hope that they would come upstate to Central New York, instead of just NYC. There is a lot of Dem support here.

Unfortunately, I doubt that will change the answer. Campaigns tend to go for quantity. Some might get around to upstate NY, but I doubt that all of them will.

is Upstate. The metro area surrounding Syracuse has about 750,000 people. It would be stupid to ignore us.

What was 2000 like, for example? Did Gore or Bradley stop by Syracuse? Do you remember if candidates visited Syracuse in elections before that? It seems to me, when they don't have a lot of money, they wait--they're practically forced to wait--until they need to go somewhere.

I have a feeling though that the local Democratic clubs will have a better idea about what's in store.

:( I know Bush came here, because I remember that he had a $600 per person fundraiser at the Hotel Syracuse. Of course I didn't go to HIS fundraiser, but I couldn't go to a Gore one either. :(

12. Alas, I think that past performance is not a good sign.

On the other hand, the rules have changed a bit this year, and Upstate's stock may have risen as a result. Really, you should find your local Democratic club. Maybe they have some meet-the-candidates events planned. Howard Dean came to my club's holiday party last December. (I missed it. d'Oh!)

will come to NY to try and win this state in the primaries? Do you think that they will come to Syracuse and meet people and attend events, like they have in Iowa and New Hampshire?

15. some will come but don't plan on speaking with them personally

in the early primaries maybe but unlikely, later on, almost certainly not.
