Here are some ideas for the Clark administration. Tell me what you think.

President: Wesley Clark

Vice President: May Landrieu- Proved she can win in the south and bring women and african americans to the polls

Head of the DNC: Howard Dean- Can raise money and will recruit candidates with some backbone

Press Secretary: Al Franken

Attorney General: John Conyers- A liberal and african american, the exact opposite of Ashcroft in every way, thank god

Secretary of Labor: Dennis Kucinich

Secretary of Energy: Joe Kennedy

Sec of Interior: Al Gore (or head of EPA)

Sec of State, NS Advisor, Director of Homeland Sec: Clark would know the right people to put in these jobs.

5. I think Conyers would be perfect

WHoever the next administration is, I think it will be vital that a solid liberal is made Attorney General. I care about who gets that post more than any other cabinet spot. There is so much corporate crime out there going unpunished and Ashcroft has made such a mess, it needs to be cleaned up. Plus, Michigan has a Democrat governor so we wouldn't lose a seat, and having the first black attorney general come after a huge bigot like Ashcroft would be perfect. Especially an incredible guy like Conyers.

It's a shame really what happens to great men like him and wellstone. By the way, have you read Wellstone's book "The Conscience of a Liberal"? If you liked Paul, you'd love the book. It's amazing how he doesn't sound like a politician at all, just like a regular guy with a heart of gold.

Yea it is a shame. BTW Paul grew up near here and Bobby lived around here too, my dad's brother would had been a classmate of Paul had he not went to Bishop O'Connell. I would had loved Wellstone/Kucinich as a ticket, it would make up a lot, more experience no offense DK and a all the pro choicer again no offense to Dennis. Wellstone was a great guy.

10. I thought Gore should have picked Wellstone over Lieberman

Wellstone was a man of integrity, no one on either side doubts that, so he would've given the ticket the morality edge Gore needed to offset the Clinton taint. ANd he was Jewish so he would have energized Florida, as well as offsetting the Green vote. Oh well.

Can you imagine him today as President or AG going after the corporate theives and the energy companies that are ripping us off? Bobby would be like a pitbull on raw meat. We NEED a fighter like him today.

12. Governor doesn't matter

Conyer's seat would stay in democratic hands because he represents the very democratic city of Detroit but the governor can't appoint replacements in the House of Representatives. The governor only appoints replacements in the Senate. In the House there is a special election in the district to fill the vacancy.

Also, Conyers would be 75 years old. It isn't extremely old to hold public office, just look at Robert Byrd or Strom Thurmond, but it would have to be taken into consideration.

3. I'm not trying to start trouble

If by some chance Dean does not become the nominee for either Pres or VP...do you know what a tremendous DNC Chair he would make?

In some regards that's overkill for the position but he would be the proverbial 300lb gorilla in that position.

14. Frankly, I think that's pretty insulting

For one thing, you somehow equate Dean's financial support from the people into something akin to "fundraising ability" which can be translated to other venues or causes. That couldn't be further from the truth. The people who are sending in their $58 contributions -- and most of them for the first time ever -- are investing in their hopes and dreams. Any attempt to merely "fundraise" on those terms would be cynical and the very antithesis of what Dean is all about anyway.

I think it was high praise to consider Dean for DNC Chairman. It would give him an excellent opportunity to leave his personal mark on elections all across the country. The internet fundraising is the rage of the future, and who better than Dean to implement that formula into party fundraising

will likely be the next Director of Homeland Security if ANY of the dems wins.

I love Conyers as AG.... but I think it may well be NY's Elliot Spitzer. I'd love to see David Boies as Solicitor General.

28. I think Hart's a Lock on Defense

While Homeland sounds natural because of his work on the Hart-Rudman commission, Hart's real strength lies in defense issues. Knows the lay of the land every which way. Will make an excellent Secretary of Defense.

11. Sec of State or NSA

Richard Holbrooke is sure to be in there somewhere. Actually is any Dem makes the WH, Holbrooke needs to be considered. He's very brash, but always get the job done.

Joe Wilson also comes to mind as a deserving Dem.

13. Not Gore or Landrieu

I really doubt that he would want to be EPA administrator of Interior Secretary after coming so close to the presidency and after being Vice President. I think that would be a demotion from ex-Vice President to some cabinet secretary.

I'm not a fan of Mary Landrieu. I really don't like her opinion on things like the environment. But, electorally she would probably be great. Unfortunately none of the other democratic women in the senate seem perfect for the job. Boxer is too liberal, Feinstein is too moderate, bipartisan and old, Clinton is too Clinton, Lincoln is too.... has to run for reelection in 2004 in Arkansas, Murray has too much baggage (unfortunate Bin Laden statement), Mikulski is too liberal and too old. Stabenow and Cantwell could be fine but they were only elected in 2000 and don't seem like the best candidates. Right now it is hard to find a good female presidential or vice presidential candidate because there aren't enough in the senate or the governor's mansions. I think that a female candidate in general would be excellent, but I just don't know which one.

15. In all honesty

The VP doesn't do too much anyway. But I like Landrieu, although she's not really a liberal, but she's strong on civil rights. And I think she'd be a good pick in terms of getting elected and she's very telegenic and well spoken. She'd make Cheney look terrible in the debates: a good looking, thoughtful, well spoken middle aged woman vs. an old gargoyle that has the look of evil in his eyes.

I would just think that she would be the favorite to win the nomination in 2012. I wouldn't like to have that happen.

Braun has very good policy positions IMHO... She rocks. It's too bad she is too tainted to be taken seriously. But I love her.

I like her, too. She is so well spoken and gracious, not to mention smart. It's a shame about that baggage, but I still don't think they treat her candidacy seriously enough. It seems to me that every candidate has something or other that some segments of the population are critical of.

How did she defend herself at the time? I can't remember. I know there were a couple of things that caused her not to run again, both tainted with illegalities?

Except Landrieu. I'm glad she won, but that painted on smile during the campaign made me want to barf. It's just too insincere.
Bill Richardson is my first choice to be Wesley's VP nominee. Gephardt would be good too, but I think Dick would make an excellent Sec'y of Labor. Kucinich would strike fear into the hearts of polluters as Sec'y of the Interior. I'd even join him in a round of "This land if your land, this land is my land..."
Conyers, Franken, and Dean all sound like EXCELLENT choices for the positions mentioned. I also agree about Clark making wise choices for the security positions.

They just voted for her because they didn't want to give Bush anything else. Breaux would be better at that, or Edwards, or any number of others.

and I don't think it's terribly likely that our former VP and legitimate President Gore would take a post as Sec of the Interior, but he would be excellent for it.

27. I'd rather have Blanche Lincoln...

....than Mary for any office. Lincoln is quite impressive.

For vice president I believe America needs someone with moral authority who has a history of fighting for the sanctity of the vote and for civil rights and working people.

Democrats are stupid not to capitalize on the party's history -- it's time to name an African American out of the civil rights movement for veep. It's the right thing to do.

Congressman John Lewis -- America needs him as vice president.
