* threatens veto if Senate passes pro worker (pro overtime) legislation
The imposter to the presidency has said he will veto any legislation that overrides changes to the rules regarding overtime.

This means our e mails and faxes (over 100,000 of them) are EFFECTIVE and DOING THE JOB!!! But we must keep up the pressure!

You don't have to be in a union to take part. I am not in a union but I DO work overtime and would like to continue being paid for it.

For more info click here:

Dear Friends,

The Bush administration's cuts in overtime pay and
changes in the rules that are the foundation of the
40-hour workweek and the weekend will soon become law,
unless the U.S. Senate blocks them. More than 8 million
workers could lose their overtime pay and protections
under these changes.

Thanks!

6. Pass it, overide the veto
And cram the veto into his face on the campaign trail.

Damn he is handing this one on a silver platter.

9. You are assuming that there is an opposition
party that will use an override of pro overtime legislation against Bush.

I don't know where that opposition party is....it has pretty much been missing in action since January 2001.

Sad but true....

8. The House of "Representatives" passed a pro Bush overtime
bill on July 10 by a vote of 213-210. SEVEN Democrats, including Dick Gephardt, couldn't find the time in their summer schedule to be present to vote. Gephardt needs to answer why he wasn't there when workers needed him.

TILL FIGHTING TO PROTECT OVERTIME PAY—By a 213–210 margin, the House narrowly defeated an amendment that would have derailed the Bush administration’s attack on the 40-hour workweek. President George W. Bush on July 9 threatened to veto the fiscal year 2004 Labor and Health and Human Services appropriations bill (H.R. 2660) if it included the amendment. The amendment, proposed by Reps. David Obey (D-Wis.) and George Miller (D-Calif.), would have prohibited the Department of Labor from using funds to implement regulations cutting overtime pay. The Bush administration is pushing for changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act that could eliminate overtime pay for as many as 8 million workers, including police officers, nurses and store supervisors, according to an Economic Policy Institute study. Many workers would face unpredictable work schedules and reduced pay because of an increased demand for extra hours for which employers would not have to compensate workers, the institute said. Any worker making more than $22,100 a year could be denied overtime pay under the proposed changes if they are classified as professional, administrative or executive employees exempt from federal overtime rules. A vote on the appropriations bill is coming up soon in the Senate, and the effort in the House continues with a bill introduced by Miller and Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.).
