They are given a viewpoint to espouse and are well paid to defend it with every tool in their arsenal to the limits of the law and beyond when feasible.

Truth, ethics, national duty (snort!) and similar concepts simply don't enter the equation. It would never occur to most of these people to do their job any other way, and why should it? It's a much more profitable, easy profession than it was years ago.

CNN operates under a formula geared for moneymaking: short, bland segments, safe guests, and safer anchors. When's the last time the CNN ever had something that came close to asking real questions like a Frontline or even 60 Minutes? The biggest pap-master is Wolf Blitzer, who has a knack of sounding like he is asking hard-hitters, when really he's ratifying (without challenge) the loony views of a lot of his subjects. A total whore.

None of the rest of their assholes are actual reporters, they're just opinion mongers.

On the flip side, Aaron Brown can be pretty good, and I actually admire Lou Dobbs. For Dobbs, one can debate his stances (I often agree with him) but no one can say he isn't a hell of a good host. HIs interviews and his panels are always managed well. No yelling, no insults, no slack answers. He keeps his panelists and his guests on topic and allows equal time for all. He is also not afraid to say he disagrees with someone, but always as a gentleman.

She completely avoided the topic because apparently she needs a transcript to remember her own ignorant comments, and she referred to me as a hateful person. My initial reaction was to think, that she's got an awful lot of time on her hands, for being such a busy journalist...and incredibly thin skinned (my e-mail could not have more mild)
