I wrote a series of proposals pre-election for what should be done to lock the GOP back in the basement of American politics should Kerry win. Among the details was invoking the Patriot Act. Give it a read, I think this is the sort of thing you were looking for. There are ways to invoke the PA that will both punish the RW & MSM while at the same time discrediting this law to the point of repeal.
