If Bush is the one who is inaugurated in January, here are 3 ways to soothe your sorrow:
It's Bush's mess to clean up: In one sense it is good that Bush will be re-elected because then he will have to face up to his own messes. War, sputtering economy, weak dollar, reduced stature of the U.S., etc. If Kerry was elected he would have to spend the first 2 years cleaning up all the crap Bush is responsible for. This way, Bush will have to finally face reality and do something about his mess. If he doesn't, the whole situation will deteriorate to the point that the country will kick all the Republicans out in the 2006 election.
Whatever happens, it's all their fault now: With Republicans in control of all 3 branches of federal govt., they will have nobody else to blame but themselves for the continuing debacle that they have created. If they were smart they would have left a little bit of power for the Democrats so that they would have someone to scapegoat - but they are too selfish and short-sighted to realize that.
Infighting among the Republicans: Whatever "political capital" they lay claim to now will certainly lead to fights as to who gets what. Because they drew so many people into their party with the social issues (abortion, guns, gay marriage, etc.) who also differ on other issues (bosses and workers who are at odds with each other on economic issues, such as overtime pay, for example) there will be a lot of tension within the Republican party itself. There are even pro-choice Republicans, environmental Republicans, even gay Republicans. All of this diversity they have will inevitably lead to either infighting or these people leaving the party. There is disagreement within the GOP over the war. They really have expanded too much from their base, and eventually a lot of disillusionment and infighting will surface. Already even voters who call themselves "true conservatives" and who believe in very limited government spending are very unhappy with Bush. The American Conservative magazine even endorsed Kerry in this election! What does that tell you about unity within the GOP? Watch for fighting between these so-called "true conservatives" and the Republicans who profit greatly from government spending (defense contractors, etc.)
