Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R. 3015, the
National All Substances Prescription Electronic Reporting Act of
2003. I appreciate hearing your thoughts and understand your
concerns.
As you may know, the National All Substances Prescription
Electronic Reporting Act would, among other provisions, direct the
Department of Health and Human Services to establish an
electronic system for physician monitoring of the dispensing of any
schedule II, III, or IV controlled substance to patients. This bill
passed the House of Representatives on October 5, 2004, and is
awaiting action in the Senate. Rest assured that if this issue is
considered on the floor, I will keep your thoughts in mind.
Again, thank you for contacting me. I hope the information
I have provided to you has been helpful. My website,
http://bayh.senate.gov, can provide additional details about
legislation and state projects, and you can also sign-up to receive
my monthly e-newsletter, The Bayh Bulletin, by clicking on the
link at the top of the my homepage. I value your input and hope
you will continue to keep me informed of the issues important to
you.
Best wishes,
Evan Bayh
United States Senator

Sincerely,
