They had a falling out several years ago. It was during or after the time when FR was defending against the LA Times and WaPo. Buckley's advice was ignored by JimRob.

So the article is really inaccurate. Still amusing, though. I'll never forget Buckley's most famous post on FR, about the Clintons:

“Why be so easy on the Clintons? Even after they are dead, I say we stuff their bodies, fix them in some kind of preservative and display them at county fairs across the nation, on a rotating basis where the citizenry can have fun putting cow dung on them (remember that’s ‘art’). If that’s not in good taste, their bodies should be flattened thin as possible, again fixed in some kind of preservative and hoisted up a flag pole to flap in the wind.”

Once, Buckley was so angry at a reporter for Salon that he connived with an acquaintance at LAPD to begin a criminal investigation against the reporter for a bogus wiretap charge. That was a pretty nasty episode.

Brian is Wm. F. Buckley's nephew.
