How well is Bush handling the economy?


The president says the economy is recovering, but the job market remains weak.



Plenty of reports these days indicate that the economy is recovering, which President Bush is pointing out as he emphasizes that he's working for economic growth.

"Our economy is starting to grow again," Bush said Thursday, the Associated Press reported. "Americans are feeling more confident. I am determined to work with the United States Congress to turn these hopeful signs into lasting growth and greater prosperity and more jobs."

But the government said Thursday that weekly jobless claims, a key indicator, came in above the 400,000 mark again. Any figure above that level indicates a troubled job market.

under-educated white guys (bush's main support base) who think that things are ok, because they are no worse off than the other people standing in the food line.

4. Here's my email, after I voted "disapprove""

In 2001 we had a rising budget surplus. Now we have deficits that will take at least a generation to erase. More than 3 million jobs have been lost since Bush became "President". He's on track to be the first president since Herbert Hoover to have a net loss of jobs during his administration. He persists, despite this ongoing job loss, to insist that tax cuts for the wealthy will somehow benefit the poor, the unemployed, even the middle class. His "handling" of the economy has been to gut social programs, roll back clean air and environmental rules, give away millions, perhaps billions of dollars to cronies who own stock in a few favored Corporations (such as Haliburton) and create a windfall of money by reducing or eliminating taxes on dividends and estates.

I don't even think the question warrants asking, the answer is so obvious.
