Poll question: Has the "War on Terror" diminished the power of women politically?

I think this is one of the main reasons for this endless war. It's better than a wedge issue.

1. I think it's interesting that no one has commented on this fact.

We heard that exit polls said Chimpy did better with women in 2004 than he did in 2000.

3. The campaign was practically a contest about who was more macho

Even here on DU, the word "balls" came up constantly. All the tough guy, gun-totin', courageous warrior protector stuff was huge. The irony is Kerry was that for real, while the Chimp obviously isn't; another irony is that we don't need the IMAGE of a manly fighter for our leader nearly as much as a person who can actually make smart decisions, and a woman could definitely do that. But the fear people seem to have, given national security and "terra" looming so large, probably precludes victory for a woman for awhile now, because people do seem to think as though the president were going to fistfight somebody or something. I still hope it'll happen in my lifetime.

4. Every election is a referendum on women's political power.

Women were making inroads, they had momentum, the phony WOT stoppedthem. without 9-11 or some other invented war, a woman would have beat Chimpy in 2004. It has chilled female leadership around the world.

Anything involving a distinction that makes up 50%+ of mankind is not ignored. Every election is a referendum on women's political power.

6. interesting point. I hadn't thought about it. Obvious answer is "yes"

since now it's all "war war war" and that's a man's game.

I wish women would rule the world. They'd be way better at it than men. I'd be happy to be the first man to vote for THAT.

Unless they shut down all the fun stuff ....... :)
