1st time ever - Bush Master gun Manufacturer found guilty |
|
The makers of the gun used by the DC snipers were found guilty and are ordered to pay up to 3.5 million dollars.

1. Many facts wrong in post |
|
1. Settlement was $2.5 million.
2. $2 million was from gun shop where weapon was purchased.
3. The suit was for allowing the gun to be sold to an ineligible person -supply chain negligence.
This is not a case where they alleged that the gun itself was bad, rather the way it was sold it was bad.

3. All gun manufacturers are now more vulnerable |
|
This is a precedent since no gun maker has ever been found guilty before.
I hope a book comes out about this such as... Unsafe at any caliber.

1. It was a settlement, not a judgment. There is a difference. No precedential value for a settlement. No wrongdoing is acknowledged.
2. Precedent usually only attaches at appellate level.
3. This would only apply in Washington state. It was a Washington state court.

It certainly is a welcomed settlement. When so many settlement amounts have been sealed it is good to see this one out in the open.
