1st time ever - Bush Master gun Manufacturer found guilty

The makers of the gun used by the DC snipers were found guilty and are ordered to pay up to 3.5 million dollars.

1. Settlement was $2.5 million.

2. $2 million was from gun shop where weapon was purchased.

3. The suit was for allowing the gun to be sold to an ineligible person -supply chain negligence.

This is not a case where they alleged that the gun itself was bad, rather the way it was sold it was bad.

This is a precedent since no gun maker has ever been found guilty before.

I hope a book comes out about this such as...

4. No they are not

1. It was a settlement, not a judgment. There is a difference. No precedential value for a settlement. No wrongdoing is acknowledged.

2. Precedent usually only attaches at appellate level.

3. This would only apply in Washington state. It was a Washington state court.

It certainly is a welcomed settlement.
When so many settlement amounts have been sealed it is good to see this one out in the open.
