He never successfully differentiated himself from Busholini in the opinion of most voters. His policies were so nuanced, they didn't strike a chord anywhere-even among a lot of us who voted for him. 5. I really resented the fact that Kerry was a done deal

before the voting option even got to Texas. I don't think Kerry was the best candidate but he did win me over in the end.

There's nothing wrong with looking back on what went wrong. This won't last long - once Bush (?) is inaugurated, we will have our work cut out for us.

I personally believe that Kerry was the choice of the DLC and corporate types and he didn't listen to the people enough in defining his campaign. I cringed when he said "reporting for duty" and kept harping on his military record as though nobody had ever heard of it. But there are a million theories out there.

And neither am I. I've been a longtime admirer of his. But the reasons I admire him are precisely the reasons he is vulnerable as a national candidate. And that would be his anti-war activities, his "Winter Soldier" testimony and his throwing some medals over a fence.

Add that to the fact that he ran as a hawk in this campaign, and you have a very conflicted image. And in many parts of this country, they absolutely the anti-war hippies of the 60s. I think that hurt him even more than the Swift Boat lies.

Those of us who acknowledge his vulnerabilities (now that the election is over) are not against him at all. Just being realistic.

Honestly though, I would do it all again. I would have preferred Clark to Kerry or even to have had Clark on the ballot with Kerry at the top. No knock on John Edwards, but his resume can not measure up to that of Wes Clark.
