When you go into ANY store where you need a product... demand american made, they don't nmake it, walk out... and make it loud

YOU WILL NOT buy cheap imported goods.

We need to start doing this, if you are going to have to buy some things.

it's a nice sentiment, but it doesn't work. The world economy is too globalized, and our country depends on various products from other countries (in fact, without foreign imports, you might as well say goodbye to a LOT of necessary primary and luxury products).

Better way: develop an international treaty on fair wages that helps to keep jobs here at home, by reducing the incentive to do business overseas...I'm sure there are other alternatives, so I welcome them.

But buying American won't do anything

Thuogh buying American is not as simple as buying the American Brand... for instance my Honda Hybrid has employed far more Americans than my neighboor's Ford, if you get my drift.

Always check contry of origin and counrry of assembly.

quite frankly, but right now I want to slap the machine.

I needed a cap for it was painfully cold in Sunny So Cal... and I did NOT stop lookng until I found an American made one, so it is not quite the style i like... and I made it loud.

7. I dunno, its a bit simplistic

Some foreign foods, for example, are higher quality than are made in
the US, and i'm picking about food. Do YOU trust the US meat
industry?

As well, buying american, simply puts taxes in to the petroleum
culture of war and imperial repression of revolts. One could just
as well make the observation that buying selectively from some
foreign suppliers is far more patriotic for someone opposed to
criminal war.

I'm sure the nazi's liked to "buy german" as well, but it just don't
sound all that patriotic when seen historically.

8. Think of it this way

when yuo buy that jacket made in China or Bangladesh, you are not paying less for it.

By the way, that jacket was made with slave labor

When yuo buy American, you are EMPLOYING Americans, and you are paying, as the consumer the same money, or maybe a percentage or two higher, but that money is staying in the country and EMPLOYING your fellow Americans

You may think it is simplistic, but today we must do two things:

Boycott the economy, insofar as not consuming what we do not need

When we buy, BUY AMERICAN and BUY FROM A LOCAL STORE

Lets put it this way, when yuo buy this way, 70 cents of every dollar stay in your community. When you buy at a box store and imported it goes anywhere from 32 to 17 cents

It does not take a rocket science degree to see why this matters.

You bring up bangladesh and china. Ok. I was referring more to say
IKEA of sweden and other places that are paying living wages.

I buy from local farmers off-market. Eggs free range from nearby
chickens i've met and all that sorta thing. If it ain't food, i
can get it on ebay, where i'm selective as to origins.

That said, i've a vernier caliper that i can't be sure was not
partially made in china. This computer was partly made in malasia.
In some respects, given the massive supply chain integration of
modern technology, there is little hope of getting a product that
was not made in several countries.

Perhaps a more effective boycott would be to arrange to be paid in
such a way to avoid paying the income tax for mass murder.

Ikea is a good idea... but why not American Made furniture? We do have a local store that MAKES it on site, with union labor... guess where I will get my furniture once we finally buy a home?

I co-own two small businesses, and we pay UNION wages, employ LOCAL people and sell AMERICAN-MADE goods. For the love of God, please buy from such businesses, whenever you can, because many of us are Democats, too.

18. If you happen to know of any

American mfg's of fishing and sprorting good supplies, I'd be interested. I have some, but not nearly enough. The problem I often run into is that because US mfg's have higher costs than imports, they sometimes have minimum orders that I can't afford to meet.

16. I have a store. I try hard to find American made goods

It's not easy. And I can't always afford them. And if I can afford them, I can't neccessarily sell them, b/c Walmart has a crappily made similar item made in China that it sells cheaper. I buy everything I can from local sources, but it's hard. Often, I can't even FIND anything like I need made in the US b/c it's all outsourced. If I don't make sales, I go under.

My motto is to shop small business. Your $10 doesn't mean crap to Walmart, but I definitely appreciate it. They do more sales through one register on one day during one shift than I do in a month's time.

Now that is why the montana action was so important, people went to wally mart and screamed buy american buy local.... and I still remember when wally mart had the proudly made in the US for all their goods. Sam died and the kids outsourced EVERYTHING so it will give them a peny or two extra in profit per item.

Sooner or alter nobody will be able to buy tehir crap either, but that is ok...
